Laying in bed and then:
"How would my life would be different if it weren't for the Tripod chatrooms?"
I am guessing not many other people wonder that.
Not only did I land 2 great pop shuvits in a row today but I must’ve landed like 30 great ollies in a row
The park’s children.
She creaked open the door and turned on the light, then went about her nightly routine to clean the cooler. The garage door slightly opened but she thought nothing of it. The air inside was stuffy and so hot that it’s in dire need of circulation.
She turned with her back facing out and began to scrub. A cold breeze sneaked in and startled her. “What’s with the sudden chill,” she said and went back to finish up. When she turned around she almost jumped up into the cooler. She squinted her eyes to get a better look and saw a shadow right by the garage’s bottom opening. She blinked and it was gone. “Too late, too tired.” She sighed and approached the house’s door.
Suddenly, “Help.” She whirled around and gasped. She tried hard to stay still. Again, “Help, please.” It sounded like a small child. “Help, please.” Make that more than one.
“Who?” Her voice betrayed her resolution to stay silent.
“Help, we’re running away.”
She squinted again and saw the hand. She remembered the news a couple days ago and remembered the shirt of one of the missing children. “Wait, let me open the garage.”
“No!” the voice hissed. “She’ll hear you.”
“Ok.” Her stomach was tight from fear but she compelled to help. “Can you sneak under?”
“Pull please.”
The small hand was so greasy and red that she could barely get a grip. “Wait.”
“No. Please.”
She tried again and this time she managed to drag one of the children in. Before she could saw the little face, another hand sneaked in under the garage. She pulled again, but this time she felt an opposing force.
“No….let me go.”
The other kid behind her began to panic. “Pull. Pull! Don’t let him go. Don’t let her get him.”
She tried as her might before she heard a loud pop and a scream after, but she couldn’t let go partly because the other kid was begging while the other part was because the small fingers had dug into her skin and ripped it. Wincing with pain she finally managed to pull the other one in.
She didn’t let go, she couldn’t let go. The second kid had his hand tightly on her when she looked up and saw his mangled arm. A large piece of bone was sticking out but that’s not the worse part. His skin was slowly peeling off. Before she could scream the little girl that she saved earlier stepped into her view.
The little girl shoved her both of her small hands to cover her bigger mouth. She could smell the pus and realized that it wasn’t grease that made her slippery, it was the yellowish exudates. The little girl’s skin was bright red with patches of boils. Her eyes had lost its lids and her lips were cracked so deep. Then she whispered with a hoarse voice, “Help us escape from the park. Help…please.”
She jumped back and screamed before a black veil covered her view.
Her fiancée found her babbling about and managed to call 911. The search and rescue started to scour the parks around the area and finally find a small place inside the storm drain; a makeshift shack that housed the half burned body of the dead girl and her brother who almost died from sepsis.
Nobody could explain her experience. Vision or not, it haunted her for years.
...I'm not sure if tonight is getting better or worse
Everything Seems Right
You’re my sun and my moon. You’re the ice cream and my spoon. Actually, let’s get some, and soon. And after each bite, you can tell me about the hard parts of your night. We’ll unwind under the moonlight. Soft kisses on your forehead until everything seems right.
Still content with life :)
