as one who attempted to get a degree in psych, not many licensed therapists actually have empathy. They go "by the book" brcause that is how they are trained, rather than being told brains are wired a certain way, and all act differently my classes were basic med books describing that all things are the same, so the mindset is to treat everyone the same. When in fact (thanks to art therapy) you need to try different methods for different people. Most psychs don't.
my first (and sadly only) therapist tried “going by the book” to a point where she let my mom talk over me abt my “trauma” and made assumptions based off my mom’s words over my own like???
you’d think a therapist WOULD LISTEN TO THEIR CLIENT not the clients mother but sadly, thats how my first therapy went
that and “you’re too young to be gay/trans” too which is always nice to hear mmh,,
