The message is silent for several seconds; it was actually longer, but he kept having to tell the phone he wasn't done talking.

"How..." Another pause. "How am I supposed to keep going without you?"

He doesn't hang up quite quickly enough to keep the start of his sobs from being recorded.

"We have to hide." {why is it so hard to pick one of these tho? ugh}

She was right, there was no way they could fight the thing the Nemeton had attracted this time.

Stiles forced himself to breathe. Look around. Find the nearest place of shelter.

"There," he said, pointing. "On three, right? One... two... three!"

He took off running with Stella beside him.

He was playing with a coin, turning it over and over in his fingers. Every time it started to falter he caught it with the fox aura he had now. He hummed softly.

This part was fine. He liked this part. It had only been a few weeks ago that they'd been talking about needing superpowers, and telekinesis had been at the top of his list. Even if this was mild, more about precision than power. It was fine.

The hunger, not so much.

"If someone says 'be careful what you wish for,' I will levitate this coin through their eye," he announced.

Stiles stared at the knife in his hand. He and Stella were making dinner and in his hand the knife had turned from a useful tool to a deadly weapon. He didn't want to stab--too easy. He wanted to slice, thin and shallow. Painful--pain was the goal.

He dropped the knife, choking on something between a sob and a scream. "Stella!"

It was real. They did it. It was real. He was safe and the nogitsune was locked up again, it was real, he'd counted his fingers and checked every mirror and read every street sign, it was real, he was safe and he was going home, half-asleep in the passenger seat while Stella drove.

Stiles had tried to sleep in his own bed tonight. He didn't want to depend on Stella, didn't want to break whatever few boundaries they still had by needing her constantly. But god, the nightmares.

So there he was, in the doorway of her room, calling softly, half-hoping she wouldn't wake up. "Stella? Can I come in?"
