The Hunting Wives by May Cobb was an April BOTM pick. “Sophie moves from Chicago to a small Texas town, hoping to leave the stress behind. She’s a little bored until she falls in with Margot and her friends. Skeet shooting, boating and lots of drinking. But when a body is found in the woods, Sophie suddenly finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation…” The beginning of this is terribly annoying. So much drinking and awful behavior. Is it wrong to say the book got interesting once a character went missing and was killed? The last third moved quickly except for Sophie not being able to get out of her own way. I did guess the killer - you probably will too. There’s a Mean Girls vibe here. Cobb shows what obsession will make someone do. Once again, a Brad character starts out a good guy but turns out to be not very nice. He had such promise ☺️ But for some reasons authors don’t like a Brad 🤷🏼♂️ I did learn that Tallahassee is a coastal town in this book 😮🤦🏼♂️ Oops 😬 Nice audiobook performance from Erin Bennett. Interesting finish to this one. #thehuntingwives #maycobb #erinbennett #audiobook #bookofthemonth #penguinaudio #bookstagram #bookshelves #booknerd #bookhoarder #bookworm #sodacityreads #bookish #bookreview #hardcover #bookcover #bookhaul #literarycrimefiction #goodreads #homelibrary #fiction #domesticthriller #crimefiction #thriller https://www.instagram.com/p/CUDG9BCLMLc/?utm_medium=tumblr
