Tale of Two Queens Pt.1
@maydaybranwen It had started with a ball. Rulers of different magical dimensions were always getting together, forming alliances with other rulers and most of all making enemies. It was natural process that was bound to happen when you had a bunch powerful people, who were suspicious of everyone else, and Sarah could see why such things were necessary. She just didn't understand why Jareth would want to form an alliance. He was a powerful ruler, his magic old and powerful just like the dimension he ruled, so there shouldn't have been any reason to form an alliance with someone he didn't like. When Sarah had voiced her concerns to him, Jareth had simply given her a frustratingly charming smile, and asked her about her newest spell. Which had lead to an argument, with Sarah admittedly doing much of the arguing, as she tried to get information out of her husband. At the end of the night, she laid satisfied in Jareth arms after a nice round of angry sex, while he did his best to explain the politics surroundings magical dimensions. That had lead to another discussion in which Jareth had admitted that he only wanted to form an alliance for her sake. “Sarah, I know you might not think it's a big deal but I have never taken a wife in all my years as a ruler, and the fact that my wife is a human may need to rulers viewing me as-” “Weak,” she finished his sentence for him, a small frown forming on her face. “Somebody might see our marriage the perfect opportunity to invade our home” Sarah finished of her statement with a sigh. Slowly her hand reached out to caress Jareth face. “Fine,” she said giving him a small smile. “We'll go to the stupid ball but…” She raised her finger to his lips, silencing any objections, “I get to pick the rulers we form an alliance with.” In response to her terms, Jareth took the hand that was against his mouth and gave it a small kiss. “Whatever, will make my queen happy.” ~ Sam had learned many things since becoming Loki’s wife, most of which included her new duties as a queen and had a long set of traditions in which she had to follow. However, other things she had to learn through experience, especially the most personal rule of all; never question her husband. It was a rule that she had kept close to her heart after a month of their marriage. So when Loki stated that they would be attending a ball, she didn't put up a fuss or demand more information, her only response was to nod her head. Sam had occasionally wondered if other relationships were like theirs, did all queens have to question their husbands unconditionally or be constantly obedient. She had a sinking feeling that the answer was “no”, but it's wasn't like she was going to bring this up to Loki, especially when she owed him so much. He had saved her, taken her in when her whole family and village had been destroyed, and eventually loved her enough to marry her. The god had did all of this despite the fact that she wasn't royalty and couldn't even remember her past, and for that Sam would forever remain grateful. Keeping her silence and making sure her husband stayed happy was the least that she could after he had sacrificed so much from her. “What are you thinking about love?” The god called out, interrupting Sam’s musing. He had been staring at her the entire time, watching her reaction for a hint of disappointment. “Would you rather stay home.” There was a certain tone in his voice that sent Sam on edge, it was almost like he was testing her. “Of course not my love, I was just thinking about the dress I was going to wear,” she replied, a small smile on her face. Loki narrowed his eyes at her, his eyes never leaving her face, almost as if searching for a hint of malice in her face. Sam lowered her gaze to the table, his gaze was too intense for her to handle and at any second it felt as she was going to combust. She didn't look up when she heard the god get up from his chair, or when he came to stand by her side. It only came up when Loki placed his fingers under her chin and tilted it up to look at him; Sam quickly closed her eyes, mentally preparing herself for a slap that was sure to come for lying to god. However, instead of a harsh blow that she was accustomed to, Sam was greeted with a soft kiss. It caught her off guard, but she quickly melted into the kiss, eager to soak up in the rare affection her husband was offering. When Loki broke away, Sam couldn't help but to be a little disappointed but didn't say anything, she was lucky that Loki was offering her this much love. “Thank you…” she whispered, a warm smile spreading on her face In response to her words of gratitude, Loki took Sam’s hand into his and gave it a small kiss. “Whatever, will make my queen happy.”
