ブリスベン近代美術館へCai Guo-Qing (蔡 國強 さい・こっきょう)というアーティストの展示を見に行ってきました。中国生まれで、ニューヨーク在住だという彼は、日本でも展示をしたことがあり、賞もいくつか取っている世界的に活躍するアーティストのようです。
I had a chance to see an exhibition called "Falling back to Earth" by Cai Guo-Qing at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. He was born in China and is currently living in NY. Surprisingly he had held many exhibitions and had received awards in Japan.
そして、両サイドにある部屋へ入ると、一つはヘッド・オン(頭から)という99頭のオオカミがガラスの壁に突撃して行く様子が展示されています。レプリカなので作り物なのですが、剥製かと思う程しっかり作られています。最後に、楽しみにしていたヘリテージ（遺産）。99種類の動物達が一つの大きな青々しい湖へ水を飲みに行く様子を表した展示。人類みな兄弟じゃないけれど、人種が違っても求める物は同じ、だから、争わずに共有しようというような意が込められてると説明を受けました。
Then, one of rooms had 99 wolves heading onto the glass wall. They all are replicas but look so real. I was a little sad to see how they smashed into the glass though; looked very harmful! The last but the one I was most excited to see was in the other room. Heritage, is the name, has 99 different species gathering to have a drink of water to one big lake. The meaning of this piece is to make people realise that no matter where people are from, people still require the same thing (which is water, in this case) so why not share it without fighting for it. (This is how I have been explained.)
とても幸運な事に、この日、ロンドンから駆けつけたMay King Tsangさんの中国茶のデモンストレーションを体験する事が出来ました。日本に居た頃から紅茶も日本茶も中国茶も、茶と付く物なら大好きで、中国茶器のセットが欲しいとずっと思っていたので、実際に目の前でデモンストレーションを見る機会が突然出来て、幸せでした。彼女は、ティーバッグが主流の現在を変えたい、茶葉から淹れるお茶の素晴らしさを伝えたいと活動してらっしゃるそうです。説明も凄く分かりやすく、ジョークも交えながら楽しんで学ぶ事が出来ました。
That day, fortunately, the museum was having a demonstration of Chinese tea by May King Tsang. We felt so lucky to be there to be able to see her demonstrations! I have always liked tea, any kinds; Japanese, English or Chinese tea, plus have wanted to purchase Chinese tea sets for a long time. So you have no idea how lucky I have felt! She was funny and easy to understand. One small extra step makes a big difference, this is what I have learned from her.
