The family member who received the text message contacted Meredith's mother, who later alerted the FBI because she was concerned about her safety and that of others. Meredith was arrested shortly thereafter with two firearms, several high-yield magazines and more than 2,500 rounds. As part of his guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop the firearms charge against him.
When Jackson accepted her statement, she asked Meredith if she admitted that she threatened to kill Pelosi, which his attorney objected to.
"His attorney objected to my characterization of putting a bullet to the head as a death threat," Jackson said. "Did you threaten to shoot him in the head?"
"Yes, Your Honor," Meredith said. "It was a political exaggeration."
While Meredith faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, Jackson said she would face a recommended sentence of 6 to 24 months, pending a later decision on applying another law to his case.
The date of Meredith's sentence has been set for December 14th. You will remain in federal custody while you await this hearing.
