quietus (tripmay drabble)
quietus (roughly translated to mean the state of being quiet or calm)

He wanted to get her a ring; he was pretty insistent on that. It's a beautiful ring, though, and he doesn't mind that she wears it on a chain around her neck most of the time. Except when they're together. Then she wears it on her hand, even when she has nothing else on.
She's wearing it now and it sparkles against their entwined hands. He lifts her hand to his lips and kisses it. “I can't believe we're getting married.”
She smiles. “You're not sorry you said yes, are you?”
He kisses her lips by way of reply. “Never.”
