Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When do prompts get sent out for claims?

A:Prompts go out the first of every month!  Since our event was just announced the first batch of prompts will be sent out June 1st!

Q: Can I prompt anything Marvel related or is it exclusive to the MCU?

A: Anything Marvel is welcome in our prompts!  It can be any continuity or just involving any Marvel characters!

Q: How vague or specific does the prompt have to be?

A: That is up to you.  Keep in mind if you want something more specific then you should note that in the prompt.

Q: What happens to a prompt if it isn’t claimed?

A: Our slide show is organized by month, so it will appear in the month that it was prompted.  It is still eligible to be claimed at any point until it is filled.  After a few months we add older prompts into the most recent month at hopes of getting fresh eyes to see it and avoid it getting buried at the bottom of the slide show.  We do not delete prompts that are not filled, we just change their position in the slide show after they’ve been up for a while.

Q: What if none of these prompts inspire me?  Do I still have to claim something?

A:Nope.  This is an event that is ongoing.  If nothing from one month speaks to you, you can feel free to wait and see if a prompt form another month inspires you!  There is no pressure to claim.

Q:What if I’m left without a partner?  Can I begin working on the prompt ahead of time?

A: No.  At least not at first.  We ask that you wait 90 days after your claim to see if you’ll be paired.  After that you can look into our “Playing the Field” and “Going Stag” options to work independently.  More detailed information on that can be found here.

Q: When is the prompt fill due?

A: All fills are due a year after you are partnered up.  (ex. If you’re paired June 30, 2020 your fills are due June 30, 2021.)

Q: Am I able to drop a prompt after claiming it without dropping from the event as a whole?

A: Yes.  We understand that inspiration comes and goes, and with an event like this with a very loose due date, it’s possible that you can fall out of love with a prompt easily.  We just ask that you reach out to the Matchmakers in this instance so that we can get a pinch hitter for the prompt.

Updates

The Marvel Blind Date was just announced, and the Mods are so thrilled by the response!  However since this is a new kind of event, there are bound to be bumps along the way, and the mod team has to adjust accordingly.

It has recently come to our attention that there may be some authors and artists that have been stuck waiting for a partner.  Per our policy, the rule is that you cannot begin work on a prompt until you have been paired.  That said, we can’t force anyone to claim a prompt that doesn’t appeal to them, so we’ve come up with a solution.

If an author or artist has claimed a prompt and been without a partner for 90 days or more, they now have the option to enroll in our “Playing the Field” program.  This program allows the claimer to begin work on their claimed prompt before they have a partner.  You will fill out the form, give a brief description or preview of where you plan to take the prompt and that will be added to the slide for claims.

In the event that the author or artist finishes their work on the prompt while still partnerless, they have the option to fill out a “Going Stag” form.  Once 30 days have passed since filling out the form, the claimer can post their project without a partner. You must have played the field prior to going stag.

Please note that these options are just that. Options.  Everyone is welcome to wait in hopes of a partner before beginning their work.  These are just options for those who have claimed prompts and are eager to begin working on them.
