MC seems a bit meek in the rewrite. Is there a reason for that? I quite liked the previous options that let them remain reserved and impassive.

Yes, actually, it has more to do with the fact that the MC is still a child, but of course, stoic, impassive, and etc. options will be more present as the MC grows.

Is there going to be an option for the mc to appear one way to others but another when with those they hold dear? Like maybe a mc that usually looks ruthless and stoic to others but once they're with those they love the most they're like a cinnamon roll? Or a mc that seems happy and kind to others usually but takes a more gremlin kind of personality with certain people?

Of course, I won’t be placing any restrictions on personality options in that sense. I’ll also code it so that this will be noticed by other characters.

Is the Mc's personality locked? Or do we get to choose

In Novaturient, no the MC’s personality is not locked. Well…not entirely. You can’t be cruel, mean, or rude to the ROs and certain other characters. You can be rude to some characters, but it’s for comedic purposes (this is a spoof/parady IF !!!).

As for the wip ideas that you’ve been seeing in the last couple of days, and the reason for this ask no doubt lol:

In The Whisper in the Mist (Pacific Rim), mc’s personality would be locked behind their coping method of humour for a large majority. They would have moments where their real personality shone through through, and that would eventually start to happen more and more.

In Empire of Bones, the mc’s personality would be set as kind, gentle, etc. to begin with. However, what that personality developed into over time would not be locked.

In The Titan in the Stars, the only thing that would be really set about the mc is their intelligence, and their massive respect for other forms of life and their cultures. Nothing would ever be taken from planets without express permission (if it was inhabited by those who could give consent), and/or would be studied on planet (unless critical that something was needed elsewhere).

Tbh I never thought about the possibility of the lion/wolf actually eating someone, but the "fluffy is hungry" ask was really amusing. Gotta love MC showing an unexpected badass side, more so if they usually look nonthreatening. I'm obsessed with that type of character/protagonist.

Yes, it definitely seems like a popular “trope.” I’m definitely keeping it in mind as I write the game. I do believe there will be some opportunities for a typical non threatening MC to show off their badass side. I want my game to be one where MC is not just a helpless person who always needs to be saved but can save others even 😅

Is MCs personality, or at least their past personality, is set as teasing? Since almost every choice led to MC either teasing C or teasing James, especiallyJames and Anna. I don’t mean it this in a bad way! This is just a me thing since I’m not really the teasing kind of person, even with my siblings or my friends (well, maybe my friends but when it’s only me and them) since I’m more of a shy person I guess. Still love the demo though!

Hey! No worries - I'm actually putting together a list of changes for when I update the demo and one of the changes will be more control over teasing, so you can choose that or another route, etc. At least, that's my hope! It wasn't intentional that I wrote it that way, I just like a lot of banter and ended up writing it into the game quite a lot. spending too much time with English people

Also just wanted to say I totally love the idea of the MC’s identity being able to change over time feels more real (not saying that peoples sexuality always changes or everything but the ability to explore it feels more real)

Also cause as a lesbian I usually always play as a lesbian but sometimes their are male characters in games that I end up really liking and want to romance instead but the game won’t let you try to romance them cause I picked lesbian at the start and that sucks lol

I explained it a little in this post.

You will be able to play as most standard personality types, but you won’t be able to play as cruel or rude (in the first two books anyway, and even in the third book, it wouldn’t be needlessly). This is because it doesn’t really fit within the story.

A personal favourite of mine is a sassy/sarcastic Merlin who doesn’t take any of Arthur’s shite. But you can play as stoic or sweet etc. and you will not be locked out of any choices. You can be sarcastic to Arthur, sweet to Gwen, and (reluctantly) polite to Uther for example (which if all goes according to plan, will be noticed by others).

I can understand why a lot of authors would lock in sexualities, it certainly makes coding a lot easier, but I really wanted to create a series of stories that span over a decade, and I thought it would be really interesting for you to get to explore yourself both under the oppressive reign of Uther, and the progressive reign of Arthur.

Ooh this looks really interesting! Can you explain a bit more about how you plan on MC being able to explore their identity in game? Perhaps maybe talk about MC themselves and what kinda person they can be, and how that also effects the story?

Okay so *cracks knuckles* let’s dive in:

A male-presenting MC is going to have a much easier time than a female-presenting or gender-neutral MC (on the surface). As a F/NB MC disguises themself as a man due to it being generally safer (unfortunately this also means you always wind up as Arthur’s manservant…which ends up being a smidge awkward at certain times as I’m sure you can all imagine 👀).

In terms of identity, for example, the MC could come to the realisation that they feel more comfortable presenting as the gender opposite to their own, or realise that they don’t fit into either binaries.

In terms of sexuality, as an example, the MC could have believed they were straight and then they end up having a crisis when they realise they’re falling for someone of the same gender/a gender they weren’t previously attracted to.

This could happen in any of the books, or be spread out throughout (identifying as gender fluid will also be possible).

However, this isn’t compulsory, you can be completely comfortable with your identity and sexuality throughout all the books. That doesn’t mean you won’t have your own trials to face in other aspects of your life.

As for the type of person that the MC can be, I’m assuming you mean personality wise?

You can play as most personality types, except purposefully cruel/rude. MC in the first two books wouldn’t fit this vibe with what I have planned, but the third book is a lot darker, so MC can become crueler/more ruthless, but for the sake of protecting their loved ones, rather than just needlessly. The personality choices you make will lead to (hopefully) plenty of flavour text, and characters will react to it accordingly (not everyone will appreciate your personality at certain points).

Will mc be able to get insecure about themselves? I mean it seems like their only ever loved if their a cat, and absolutely despised if their a human, and while mc may be immortal I can't NOT imagine some kind of complex evolving from that

Absolutely! I want to explore the MC personality they can have! So MC can be insecure about themselves!
