the show be like: Marinette can’t use her powers for pERsOnAl rEaSonS even though she’s a teenager who was guilted into using the miraculous in the first place and has all this unwanted stress because of it!

me: Marinette should be able to use her powers selfishly to balance out the unfairness that superheroing has had on her life, so the kwami end up loving her so much as their guardian and telling Marinette that she’s allowed to use their powers because it’s their power and they decide that she deserves to use them.

“But, MC! Inactive kwami stay in the box and they can’t control their powers very well--” Marinette is guardian now and she makes the rules. Let them come out and let us see them and have these kwami making a serious effort to control their abilities because they love their master and want to see her succeed in life despite the burden she carries.

Marinette needs to bail out of class? Trixx casts an invisibility spell and discreetly opens the door while everyone’s distracted, or puts an illusion of Marinette in place of the real one so no one suspects a thing.

Trouble with history? All the kwami have various experiences with the particular time periods and tell stories in their own fun way to help her remember (which may or may not lead to her knowing more than what’s in the books, but hey, they couldn’t have known that). Fluff throws herself into the past just to take a look if no one’s sure (though sometimes comes back with absolutely useless fun facts that no one asked for and Marinette has to consider whether or not to explain why knowing Jeanne d'Arc’s favorite color won’t help her with her upcoming test).

Rainy day with no umbrella and Marinette rushing to get home? Longg controls the water above her and protects her from getting soaked as subtly as possible.

Marinette unsure about dealing with Adrien while she’s trying to move on? Sass puts her on a timer and gives her advice about approaching him. If she has to reset, she can either try again or decide to give up because she doesn’t want to/in order to avoid any potential mocking/teasing/ridicule.

Gotta get somewhere fast? In comes Kaalki with the portals. Kaalki also scopes out Paris in her free time just so she can know the exact place to put her portals where no one would see them.

Too much to deal with in one day? Mullo splits Marinette into five tiny versions of herself so she can work on multiple tasks at once.

In conclusion: Let Marinette breathe and start seeing the things she’s burdened with as things she can use to her advantage and should use to her advantage because she deserves better.

How about instead of more adrien angst that makes marinette feel bad, we got a"what if" episode where Adrien is sent to an au where he straight up doesn't exist and has to see how much happier marinette/ ladybug is

Depends.

I mean, I totally get where the thought is there; more of a harsh pendulum swing in the other direction than a carefully thought out episode of sorts.

If it were to be an actual story-based plot though (I know this isn’t at all what this anon wanted, but sorry, my mind went off lol), I could see it being beneficial, especially if it’s just Marinette and/or Ladybug’s life that’s better (if the benefits go to everyone, then we’re delving into angst and that could get boring fast).

Marinette being happier in class because she managed to out Lila, so she was never temporarily expelled, and Ladybug has a partner who, regardless of how efficient they may be compared to Chat, takes their job more seriously and doesn’t downplay his role just so he can joke around.

Plot twist if Adren manages to see the other Chat de-transform and it actually is Adrien, but he went under different life circumstances, listened to Ladybug more, and knows when the right time for jokes are.

And this shows Adrien that it’s not that he needs to leave/not exist to make Ladybug happy; he just needs to be a better version of himself.

Another thing that was prevalent in the fandom but really didn't make a lot of sense in hindsight was the idea that whoever got the Turtle Miraculous was the next Guardian. I like Nino, but he's not Guardian material.

I must’ve missed that one when it was circling around. That’s odd.

I mean, I kind of get it, because turtle seems like a wise miraculous (and I think there used to be stuff about the turtle making people age slower? never was into that one), but still. Like, yes, factoring in this and that, I could see why one would think that this or that miraculous would be associated with guardianship, but eh, not sure considering how the show goes about holder-picking.

For me, since I factor in kwami AND power for the holder, ideally some miraculouses would be more likely to have guardian holders, but it wouldn’t be a strict thing.

I know that the Felix chapter is not yet released but, if you had to introduce Felix to the 3D series, how would you make your chapter? I have very little faith (really not a whit) in the writers and I doubt there is anything "salvageable" in whatever they do with Felix to try to fix it later. Please, I need to read a good version of what Felix 3D could be before the canon ruins it! (and I've read every fanfic you can recommend about it;))

I’d have Felix act as a contrast to Adrien. Regardless of who he’s related to (Adrien, Chloe, Aurore, etc.), he has a presence that demands your attention whenever he speaks. No one just ignores Felix.

He likely would’ve been a protege of someone important (Gabriel, Audrey, etc.), and he takes full advantage of that. He has a lot of experiences is all fields, gets amazing grades, and has a personality that gives politeness only to those who deserve it.

He’d be an obstacle for Adrien. The episode that introduces him would foreshadow this by having Adrien standing in the school’s doorway and Felix walking up the steps. Adrien would hear Felix coming toward him and look over, then immediately step out of Felix’s way before Felix has said anything.

Felix is against virtually all of Adrien’s values. He’s strong in his beliefs, but doesn’t blindly take the moral high ground unless he knows he’s in the right. He’s respectful, but doesn’t let people walk all over him. He deserves respect, but doesn’t demand it. He’s open to new beliefs and ideas, but one should be prepared to get scoffed at if those beliefs are wrong.

Adrien would notice how Felix firmly and immediately rejects girls who try to hang off of him or confess to him. He’d notice how Felix doesn’t put up with anyone else’s garbage and deals with it directly. Felix has less problems than Adrien because Felix isn’t passive and is unafraid to confront his issues.

Felix would also not put up with Lila. He’d see right through her and make it clear in front of the entire class (thoroughly shocking everyone) that he’s not interested in hearing about this fantasy Lila’s strewn together for herself. Marinette would be drawn to him, frequently hanging out with him over lunch.

One day, Alya plans a little time where she, Nino, Adrien, and Marinette can all hang out. They go to ask Marinette to join them, but Marinette states that Felix has already asked her to hang out so they can talk about fashion (Felix is very interested in all types of business).

The friendly relationship between Marinette and Felix shocks Adrien. He was already used to seeing Marinette and Luka, but Felix is almost the exact opposite of Luka, so why would Marinette gravitate toward both of them?

He’s not jealous, but he’s upset/irritated by the fact that Marinette seems so close to Luka and Felix while it seems like he’s made no progress (it’s mostly his entitlement talking).

Adrien approaches Felix and Marinette before they leave school together, pointing out that he hasn’t spent time with Marinette in a long time so maybe Felix and Marinette can reschedule?

Felix immediately counters by asking Adrien when the last time Adrien asked Marinette out to anything was.

Adrien opens his mouth, ready to retort, but nothing comes out. All he has is the photoshoot he invited to her, but that’s hardly “hanging out.”

Felix states that he and Marinette have had long conversations and Felix knows “all about Adrien” because of it. Frankly, he isn’t impressed.

Adrien would need time to process this. At first, he wouldn’t be able to understand what Felix was getting at.

But then, he’d note that Marinette likes Felix “more than Adrien” (he presumes) because Felix spends time with her. He listens to her. He validated her emotions inadvertently by standing up to Lila in front of everyone (instead of Adrien, who says nothing and avoids all public confrontation, letting people believe what they want about Adrien’s opinion on Lila).

Felix would be the ultimate challenge that shows Adrien where he’s lacking as a friend. He’d be forced to confront his problems or “risk losing Marinette as a friend” (he at least believes that would happen).

Then, eventually, he’d be sitting on a rooftop with Ladybug as Chat, silently contemplating his own behavior. Without looking at her, Chat would ask, “Ladybug, do you think I respect you enough?”

Ladybug would have no answer for him, and that would be all the answer he needs.

MC Miraculous potions?

Ooo, interesting!

And, okay, so I think I need to explain a little extra to properly get to the “potion” part, because my MCs for the miraculouses are a little different.

Rather than the miraculouses granting more powers/leeway because “adult”, it actually has to do with the kwami and how recently the miraculous has been used. A miraculous that’s been unused for thousands of years leaves a kwami feeling rusty, unable to perform at their best. Thus, the reason that Gabriel seems so overpowered compared to the ladybug and cat miraculous is that the butterfly has (presumably) been used recently. The irony of not releasing the ladybug and cat for so long to keep them “safe” is that they’re very vulnerable miraculouses once they’re active due to the kwami needing to get used to their powers being used again.

The potions, however, are different, in that they’re more connected to the holder and how much experience they have. Potions given to the kwami don’t remain when the miraculous is given to another holder, but in return, the current holder can use the powers whenever they want (though they do have to decide on their power before transforming; they can’t switch haphazardly between them). It comes with bonuses as well (like the Ice power giving the holder more tolerance to the cold when they’re a civilian), but it does demand that the holder be ready to use them, as some powers can be rather taxing.

I also like imagining that the potions require a close relationship, meaning that a potion transformation require the holder and kwami to be in sync so, lol, even if Gabriel DID manage to make a potion, good luck transforming, ya loser.

In an earlier ask, you said you'd have the miraculouses changed so the zodiac ones aren't so powerful. What kind of powers would you give them? (The only one I kind of like is Fluff, but if you have the power to travel through space and time, why not make sure Hawk Moth never gets Nooroo or save the Order of the Guardians? This show doesn't consider how powerful time travel is...)

(Most “why didn’t you do this with time travel” questions are usually answered something like “TIME TRAVEL IS DANGEROUS” because they want time travel but don’t want to do anything fun extreme with it.)

I can’t say until we see all the zodiacs, but I will say that my version of how the powers work might fix the power problem anyway.

I know you're busy with your AU but if you have a moment or want to change your mind for a moment, how would you handle a redemption for Adrien at this point in the series? The main problem with him is that writers do not recognize his mistakes as something bad, but what would it be like if he admitted that Adrien is imperfect and needs to change?

lol I mean, first off, I like how you say “writers” and then refer to a “he” to imply that you’re talking about Astruc lol.

Secondly, while I think my Felix post is one of my better ideas for it, escalation is generally the key here, and there are many ways to go about it.

1 - Giving Adrien his own bully, perhaps someone who wouldn’t care about the reputational damage if they mocked Adrien. Heck, it doesn’t even matter if they’re a true “bully,” since they might just call Adrien out for his behavior. How much Adrien is bothered by it wouldn’t matter, as if he ever said anything, one could have a snarky student (probably Alix) question what the difference is between that bully and Chloe. Whether Adrien responds with “Chloe is my friend” or “Chloe doesn’t bully me,” he’d out himself.

Alternatively, having Adrien see how Lila’s lies are affecting everyone could make a difference. I just talked about it, but Kagami was extremely hurt by that picture Lila sent out, yet Adrien is still vouching for her. Lila’s lies could spread and start affecting people more negatively (especially Marinette). This could escalate to a Marinette and Kagami friendship where they bond over a mutual dislike of Lila, which starts to extend into detesting the way Adrien handles it. Like, sure, Adrien hates conflict and tries to keep the peace, but there has to be a moment where he is ready to completely shut Lila down. It starts to look like Adrien is trying to uphold some sort of image, which neither Marinette nor Kagami would like.

2 - Having Chat actually land a non-consensual kiss on Ladybug. It doesn’t have to be a lip kiss, but the point is that Chat can’t control himself. Like, sure, maybe his leaning in is always teasing or just because he hopes that Ladybug might one day kiss him back, but eventually, that’d cause an accident where he actually lands a kiss on her, which riles up Ladybug because cAN YOU NOT? Chat very rarely has to deal with Ladybug being so frustrated with him, so it could be a wake-up call.

Alternatively, Chat sacrifices himself/get mind-controlled again in a very easily avoidable situation (so, basically... canon), and Ladybug was already stressed so that did not help. She keeps calling in other heroes even when she doesn’t have to just because she’s afraid of that happening to him again. This causes Chat to realize that he’s being a hazard and weighing Ladybug down.

If you had to build the canon Kagami we have now into hero material, how would you go about it? I'm loving the LBO frenzy going on these weeks and I'll always enjoy the baby sword lesbian Riposte!Kagami the most. But I miss the good old MCs too and, hoo boy, has Kagami's handling been grating on my nerves.

I would have Lila show up while Adrien and Kagami are hanging out. Kagami would catch onto Lila immediately (especially after Oni-chan), but notice that Adrien is hardly calling her out, if at all.

They would get into a bit of a fight over it, with Adrien awkwardly trying to explain why he (for the most part) leaves Lila alone.

It’s not as if Kagami immediately falls out of love for him, but she gets very heated and starts reconsidering her stance on Adrien and his “perfection.”

I would also have Kagami talking to Marinette about Adrien. They can bond and become friends.
