This is a bit angsty, but.. say MC had a child from her last relationship, her son… we’ll call him Adam for the sake of this. Anyway, so Adam comes home from school and sees edge gripping his mother’s arm and yelling at her, so the kid runs and tries to push him off, begging him not to hurt his mother. Begging him ‘not to be like daddy’ and begging him not to kill her. MC is mortified but it’s obvious now.
Well, as soon as the kid inserts himself, Edge would be backing off. No matter how angry he may have been at the time. Even with where he's from, Edge doesn't like kids seeing the violence he's accustomed to. He doesn't want to be a kid's introduction to it. But what the kid says only really worsens things, for Edge anyway.
At first, Edge would only want to deny the things the kids said as something Mc told him to say. But that doesn't really last long because no kid is that great of an actor and Edge could see the actual panic in the kid's actions. So that would be the starting point of Edge's investigation into Mc's past.
He may ask Adam a few questions, but he doesn't really want to upset the kid anymore than he already has and he doesn't really want to let Mc in of what he's doing. He won't directly ask her, partly because he knows she doesn't trust him and he's likely one of the last people she want to talk about it with. But also because, if she really was abused like the kid's implying, he doesn't want to drag up harmful memories.
He would do this on his own for a while, but he can only go so far before he'll start hitting roadblocks. Which then he'll have to ask for some help. Whether that help is through Black or Guns and Ace remains to be seen, but he'll eventually find something. Though what he finds really depends on what route Mc took with the kid's father, if she went the legal route or just ran away.
If she just ran away, he's going to have to confront her whether either of them likes it or not. May end up in a little bit of an argument (not the yelling kind since Mc keeps a tight grip on her anger and Edge is trying to be civil for the sake of finding out some answers), but Mc will eventually admit that she was abused in her frustration with the question of why he even cares or asked her when he doesn't believe anything she says anyway.
With the legal route, he just finds everything he wanted to know. The court filings and verdict. It's basically all laid out before him and there's no question about it anymore.
But with either route the ending remains the same. With all the digging Edge did, he finds more than he was looking for. Stuff that completely disproves what he was told about Mc and what she's actually like. Plus the two instances of abuse she's suffered (since her Mom's boyfriend still did what he did too. Mc just wouldn't have had Syna and her family's help through the first, so she was open to further abuse from someone else). And he finds he was very wrong about this woman and just put her through more trauma.
He'd knock his habits off very quickly and apologize to Mc, completely changing his behavior around her and dragging his brother along to do the same. He'd also jump in whenever one of the others tried to start shit and tell them to knock it the fuck off.
kid!mc is cut yeah but Mom! Mc is just another level
1. Taylor would be worse fo making up so many things about single mom who's only trying to give her child a better life
2. The ANGST WOULD HIT DIFFERENT "holy shit I've teared her so badly.. does she hate me? Does the kid hates me?"
3. Dad Mutt ( m milf mc,,,,)
4. Outside skeletons are like uncles but the fun kind
5. At this point of the story some of them would probably help her take care of the kid as a apology
Yes, all those things are accurate. But just to add, Taylor would not give one shit that Mc is a single mom. That doesn't affect her and she despises kids, so if she can make the kid's life miserable too then she's going to do it. Because she's that kind of asshole.
But the other things are awesome too dad Mutt would be an adorable bundle of nerves and panic. We love that. And the others would be helping her with the kid even before they realize they needed to apologize, just because they love kids. Or just find them hilarious.
And I do love me some angst.. apparently.
The kid would be brought in a while after Sans wakes up, just giving him time to rest and relax. And recover from his zombie-like, half dead appearance before the kid sees him. And no ones... really sure what he thinks of the kid now? They know he thinks Mc is his girlfriend, but he.. hasn't said what he thinks the kid is? And getting a straight answer from Sans is like pulling teeth, so they're kind of having to wing it.
So they're kind of weary bringing the kid in, but they relax significantly once they find out he thinks he just... like a stepdad. Which isn't entirely off, all the skeletons are like a stepdad to the kid in some way. Mc is just relieved he's not... upset with the kid? Or thinking the kid was Taylor's or something.
But Sans would be incredibly happy and warm seeing all three together. His family, something he thought he'd never get. All there, alright and happy and alive. It.. It's like a dream...
I'm in love with the kid au, I can only imagine how pissed the boys would be if during the scene where mutt had caught the man Taylor was sleeping with. If He was still downstairs with everyone else talking, while the kid upstairs just lets out an ear pitched scream!!
Oh, Mutt would be livid. Not just from the kid finding the man in the room, but the possible implications of him being in there and what he could've been planning to do to Mc. Which would've ended up happening in front of the kid.
The others wouldn't have been too happy about it either. Especially considering it's a stranger in their house who could pose who knows what kind of threat, especially to a child. And just the scream set of their protective instincts, especially in Red, Edge, Black, and Mutt.
And the non-lodge skeletons there would've been very mad, knowing who the man is and who orchestrated the whole thing. The possible implications and what could've happened to the kid....
Yeah, no one's happy. The man would've been escorted out more tensely and Taylor would've been treated much harsher. Don't mess with the kid.
I think mc having a kid would complicate things for Taylor and her plans especially with her lie about how close her and mc are, kids are brutally honest at the best of times and would definitely say that they didn't know Taylor before the move, plus they'd snitch without realising that Taylor didn't want everyone to know her actual business haha
"I'm so sorry!! but I have homework, you should've asked earlier babe!"
"Oh thats-"
"nuhuh! I heard you tell that man you'd be out today"
Oh, definitely.
The kid, since they’re friendlier with the skeletons, would be able to make the skeletons question Taylor a lot more. They’re all somewhat familiar with kids, especially the UT boys and all Sans. The UT boys because they watched Frisk a lot and the Sans because they all basically raised their brothers. So Taylor would have to be sneakier or at least make sure the kid isn’t around.
So..this has been a wonder for me, for a while, but in another universe how would the skelly bois treat mc if she had a little child to look after while attending college at the same time.
I'm curious
Funny, someone asked for an Echoes chapter similar to this.
Anyway, onto the reactions:
First off, they'd all be pretty shocked and surprised. While Mc would've cleared it with Taylor first, Taylor would "accidentally forget" to tell the skeletons. So they wouldn't have been expecting a child to be with her and would think less of Mc for it. (Neglecting to tell the people she was moving in with, not for having them)
I'm going with a kid around 4-5 years old. Old enough to be in school, but still pretty young.
Sans would be kind of skeptical and suspicious of the kid, or what exactly Mc would've been teaching them. But he wouldn't be able to be cruel to the kid, especially when they haven't done anything. He'd likely try to avoid the kid when possible.
Papyrus would be surprised, but quickly warm up to the kid. He loves children! And is completely fine with their probing questions and boundless energy! He'd be a bit reserved, but he'd gladly entertain them if he's allowed!
Blue is pretty similar to Papyrus, with the added bonus that he'd gladly help the kid with homework and the like. But he'd also take any questions (though has less experience with that than Papyrus) and their energy in stride! He'd be happy to play with them if he's allowed to.
Red would be suspicious and skeptical like Sans, though he'd warm up a bit quicker. He may be a little snappish in the very beginning, but there wouldn't be much bite in it. Red does have a soft spot for kids and he can't help the bit of pride when the kid looks up at him like he's the coolest person they've ever seen.
Edge would be pretty much the same as Red. The kid would think he looks really cool and it's a big ego boost for him, and he can't be that mean to a kid. He'd act like the kid is annoying, but he doesn't really shoo them off or anything. Mainly just letting the kid hover and subtly teaching them if possible. (Though Mc would likely be reluctant to leave the kid alone with him)
Black would be a lot more annoyed than anything else. But he has to give Mc some props for raising a kid on her own, he knows it isn't easy. But still, she didn't think it was important to tell them she was bringing a kid? And she's making his brother and the skeletons deal with them? He doesn't like it. Regardless, he won't be mean to the kid, especially after deeming them harmless.
Mutt would be reluctant and nervous at first. He doesn't know how to deal with kids, what's he supposed to do? Or say? What if he breaks them? But the kid will grow on him pretty quickly, becoming another source of comfort as he gets closer to Mc.
Grey would love the kid. He'd be like grandma for them, and a jungle gym. He'd make and get them all kinds of treats and let them climb all over him. He turns into a mushy pile, especially considering the kid isn't scared of him.
Lunar would be the same as Grey, but an even better jungle gym. Especially considering he has a lot more energy to play with them with. He'd be really happy they're not scared of him and it'd really make him feel warm. He'd be thrilled to distract them for Mc and have them over, though he and Grey keep a careful eye socket on them there.
I loved the ask with Mc having a kid, but like let’s say with the chapter where Mc was injured and had to rest. For a what if situation if she was hurt worse and needed her child to be watched (in this what if mitt is preoccupied taking care of MC) the other skeles had to watch said child how would it go???
Honestly pretty well all things considered. Taylor wouldn't be happy, but the other skeletons generally like children.
If Sans was around, he'd be a bit exasperated, but he is understanding. Mc isn't.. exactly in space to be taking care of a child at the moment. And he's not exactly going to turn Papyrus down when he looks so excited. The kid is cool too, so ultimately he's not too upset.
Papyrus is more than happy to watch the child. He loves children and can easily keep them entertained! And distracted! He and Blue could even set up some harmless puzzles for the kid to go through for fun, or go for a ride with them! There's many things they could go have fun with!
Blue is the same as Papyrus, he's more than happy to watch the kid for Mc. There's plenty of things to do with them and he's happy to help the kid with their homework if they have any before going out to do the fun stuff. He'd go get them ice cream too if they wanted.
Stretch is pretty similar to Sans. He'd mostly read to the kid if they asked, but otherwise leave it to Blue and Papyrus. He's not really sure what to do with them, but he's not too bothered by having to watch them for a bit. Mc can't exactly do it at the moment.
Red's a bit annoyed, but it's not like he doesn't understand the situation. Mc can't really do anything about it right now, and Mutt's kind of busy taking care of her. He doesn't really do a whole lot with the kid if he doesn't have to, though wont avoid them.
Edge is basically the same as Red. He gets there's not a lot Mc can do at the moment, she's very injured and isn't in the best shape to look after a child. But he's not going to go out of his way to spend time with the kid. He will if the child comes to him, but he's not going to go to them.
Mutt would've had to ask Black to watch them, otherwise, like Edge, he's not going to go out of his way to watch them. But if Mutt does, he'll take very good care of them. Mostly just making sure the kid is safe while Blue and Papyrus play with them.
Grey would be absolute delighted to watch the kid! He already loves them, so it wouldn't be even a little bit of a problem. It's like spending a few days at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Absolutely fun and full of good food. With the added bonus of a pair of skeletons take can make excellent jungle gyms.
Lunar would be the same as Grey, absolutely delighted! Makes all kind of goodies and things for the kid to eat and maybe teach them how to cook a little bit. Or pretend to, letting the kid help him make some food. Like putting ingredients into the bowl or something. He'd read them a bedtime story too.
As cute as the Kid!MC AU is, I personally am in love with the idea of Mom!MC with Kid AU.
Particularly a situation where the baby daddy is not in the picture, and the baby has never met their father, and so one day the baby is playing with Mutt and calls him daddy, and Mutt just combusts.
That is adorable. Mutt would combust, especially since he doesn't really consider himself father-material. He just... doesn't know what he's doing with kids and gets confused on what he should be doing vs. what not to do.
And with how involved the other skeletons are, the kid would likely see them as parental figures too. They're raising the kid just as much as Mutt is.
Oh my gosh the Mc with a kid au is so cute! Just imagine the kid making everyone "soup" but he just hands everyone a bowl of water with leaves in it. And he made the "soup" because he wanted to be like his momma
Okay, that's adorable! Some of the skeletons would definitely be able to "eat" the soup too. Sans, Red, Blue, and Black specifically, along with Grey and Lunar. And they would, just to make the kid smile.
