This photo was taken in the county courthouse on June 27, 1920. The Mobile women in the image were registering to vote for the first time. About two thousand showed up that first registration day. Happy International Women's Day from the McCall Library! These  women are representative of the more than one hundred females who worked as welders at ADDSCO during World War II. In fact, during the war eight percent of ADDSCO’s workforce (30,000) consisted of women. This photograph was taken around 1944.
