Monkberry Moon Forever
Part 1/?
Summary: Molly was the last person who wanted to go on a random tour with strange people on a bus donated on behalf of Wonderland. After facing the possibility that she wasn’t going to get her money’s worth, she’s quickly turned around by the young, (supposedly) talented stoner next to her.
Tw: implicit drugging, mention of drugs (this is Magical Mystery Tour),
For the millionth time, Molly coughed her lungs out as the young man next to her insisted on smoking that funky-smelling cigarette.
Her fiction novels could barricade her from anything. It shielded her from the unwanted social interaction at school, political arguments between family at Thanksgiving, the crippling realization that whether she liked it or not, in a few years she will have left her fantasy world to be a productive member of society or the fact she didn’t know what to do when that responsibility came down to her. Reading was an impenetrable fortress to her everyday problems.
“Who bought the tickets for this trip? I did.”
“Yeah, with my money-”
“I bought them, alright? I’m taking you out, you’re not taking me anywhere.”
But not even the most riveting novel in the world could save her from the bickering aunt and nephew behind her.
Might've made a mistake coming on this trip. She snapped her book shut, resigned to the possibility that this trip wasn’t money well spent.
‘Get out of your comfort zone’ her therapist said.
The brightly-dressed man exhaled again, the smoke floating into her face. She coughed some more and tried to fan the smoke away.
There’s a good reason why it’s called a “Comfort” zone.
Miss Winters appeared over Molly, holding a glass.
“Would you like some milk, ma’am?”
Where the devil did she get the milk from?
“Uh…sure?” Molly took the glass. The muscles in her hand tensed from the freezing temperature. She sniffed the liquid.
Wait, she realized. What would I be sniffing for? If it's poisoned, it's probably odorless anyway. After Molly drank it, Miss Winters promptly returned to her seat.
Magical Mystery Tour, indeed.
