A/N: Currently writing on Mobile just to get back into the swing of things. Feel free to leave a request if you like my writing or just crave more Beatles fanfic!
When filming a Hard Days Night, you manage to grab a last minute job on and off set. Working as an extra in most scenes and an assistant behind the camera, will this lead to an opportunity much more exciting than a job? Paul certainly hopes so!
Managing to get two jobs on a high profile set for The Beatles was no easy feat. Nor was the job. Between making sure you were camera ready 24/7 for a scene, grabbing teaser and coffees for the boys and the higher ups, making sure the food was in, and remembering the little lines you had was.. a lot to say the least. The boys didn’t make it easer. Constantly running around and causing some chaos that wasn’t scripted. It was funny of course, but goodness it made it difficult sometimes.
The most troublesome one for you, outside of John who was a trouble for everyone, was Paul. He was such a charmer with everyone, but he didn’t give and light everyone a cigarette between takes. He didn’t help everyone down a set of stairs. He didn’t compliment everyone’s outfit every day he saw them. The constant attention made your neck flush, but you kept it professional. You were so sure this was just another ‘rocker boy trick’ as your friends had so lovely dubbed it when you told them about his behavior.
However, there was this day on set when that seemed proven false. That even though he had been declared a flirt and a charmer by the papers, and everyone who had met him, he had reeled it back for everyone and given it all to you.
You arrived just 5 minutes late to set, hair wind swept from running in the breeze. You huffed a bit and hurried to makeup, giving everyone a smile and wave as you passed. Tossing everything you had brought into the makeup room’s closet gave you the opportunity to mess with your hair while makeup touched up, which you had put on before rushing out the door.
As you sat in that chair, you could see Paul’s charming smile make its way through the door via the mirrors. You grin a bit to yourself be biting it back, letting makeup apply the lipstick. You hear his footsteps approach and sit down in the chair next to your own. You keep your eyes on your own reflection, but you can see his trail up and down through your peripheral vision. The room is quiet besides the sounds of breathing, the cooling system kicking in, and the slight mutter of the hair stylist as she applies the hair spray to a stubborn piece of hair.
The tense atmosphere was growing as the last worker filtered out of the room. You busied yourself with cleaning the station, not daring to look in Paul’s direction in case what you felt would happen, happened. As you placed the comb away, you could feel calloused fingertips brush your wrist.
“Sorry to be forward, but I couldn’t help but notice ya. You were in the dance scene with John weren’t ya?”He asked, head tilted as he drew his hand back.
You mentally frowned, if that was possible, but nodded and replied,” yeah, he certainly has a… particular way of dancing.” You say as nicely as you can, giving him a small smile while turning towards him.
He gives you his grin as he also turns towards you, resting his head on his closed fist. You could see his arm slightly straining against the suit jacket’s arm as he rested it on the dressing room counter, but you focused on his face as he talked.
“He has a particular way of doing everything if you mean ‘e’s shite at dancing,” he says before continuing, “but enough of his big head. ‘ow would you like to go out with me tonight after we get out do ‘ere?”
You give him a grin while nodding softly,‘I wrap around 7, is that the same as you?” You ask while crossing a leg over the other.
His grin somehow widens while he straightens out and stand up, leaning in and kissing your cheek before waking to the door. He gives you a wink before yelling out while slipping through the door,” it is now! See you at 7 love!”
You grin while you slip your costume dress on with a loud, fast thumping heart.
