#OnThisDay in 1994 Gerald McClellan made short work of the once fearsome Julian Jackson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It was the third and last defence of the WBC middleweight crown he'd won from the power-punching Jackson in five rounds almost exactly a year previously. This time The Hawk lasted less than 90 seconds. It would be the explosive McClellan's last ever victory, as in his next fight he lose to Nigel Benn for the Londoner's WBC 12 stone title in a tragic battle that would leave McClellan with life-changing injuries. On the same mega Don King promotion we saw victories for Ricardo Lopez and Christy Martin, a bloodied Julio Cesar Chavez over fierce rival Frankie Randall, Azumah Nelson lost to Jesse James Leija and Terry Norris gained revenge and the WBC light-middleweight crown from Simon Brown. #boxing #BoxingNews #GeraldMcClellan #JulianJackson #McClellanJackson (at MGM Grand Las Vegas)
