Governor Brian Kemp outlined $1.8 billion in traffic and infrastructure improvements featuring 2 additional I-75 toll lanes through Henry County in his Annual “Eggs & Issues Address” to kickoff this year’s legislative session! This means the project will be fully funded adding 2 toll lanes to I-75 south ending the daily reversible lane changes that have done little to ease traffic congestion!
Previously engineering funds were approved for the two new I-75 lanes project but this new funding is actually construction appropriations to help ease congestion and move the project forward. Preliminary estimates indicate 70% more vehicles will be able to flow through the I-75 & I-675 interchange that is bottlenecked around the clock daily.

- This project is expected to ease congestion in the McDonough Square.
*Funding and Timeline:*
- The McDonough Pkwy extension is a T-SPLOST Project approved by voters in 2021.
- The project is funded by a penny sales tax, which will allocate over $500 to widen multiple major roads in the community over the next 5 years when you include SPLOST V, SPLOST, VI, and T-SPLOST. Adding GDOT projects traffic funding surges to over $2 billion!
- Completion of the McDonough Pkwy Extension is projected for the Fall of 2026.

*SPLOST VI: Paving the Way for Henry County's Future*
Your penny is making a difference! 🌟 Roads are being paved and widened across Henry County, thanks to SPLOST VI. Some of the roads benefiting from this project include:
- Eagles Landing Pkwy
- Hudson Bridge Rd
- Flippen Rd (up next!)
*Why Vote YES on SPLOST?*
Since SPLOST VI took effect earlier this year, over 200 projects have been completed, started, or are in the works, including:
- Paving and widening roads
- Infrastructure improvements
- Traffic enhancements
*The Impact of SPLOST*
Without SPLOST, projects like:
- Rock Quarry Rd widening
- Jonesboro Rd widening
- Eagles Landing Pkwy and Hudson Bridge Rd paving
wouldn't be possible. Misinformation on social media can be misleading, but the facts are clear: SPLOST works!
*A Big Thank You!*
To the 50%+ of voters who approved SPLOST, thank you! Your support will improve traffic and infrastructure in our community. Kudos to the Henry County Commissioners and the four cities who collaborated on the SPLOST and TSPLOST projects.
*What's Next?*
Transportation SPLOST II (T-SPLOST) will be on the ballot next year. A YES vote could bring:
- Jodeco Rd widening (to Hudson Bridge Rd)
- Patrick Henry Pkwy widening
- Jonesboro Rd widening
- Flippen Rd widening
- Walt Stephens Rd widening
- Pedestrian bridge over I-75 for our trail network
Let's keep the penny working!

The Hidden Truth About Car Accidents That McDonough Doctors Don't Tell You
Why your "minor" fender-bender might be silently stealing your future—and what McDonough's most experienced chiropractors want you to know before it's too late.
Here's something that'll make you think twice about brushing off that "minor" car accident:
Your body doesn't crash the same way your car does.
While your Honda Civic crumples in predictable zones designed by engineers, your spine twists in ways it was never meant to move. That gentle tap at 15 mph? It just sent shockwaves through a complex system of joints, muscles, and nerves that took millions of years to evolve—and about 0.3 seconds to damage.
The scary part? You probably feel fine right now.
The 48-Hour Deception: Why "Feeling Fine" Can Be Dangerous
Most people think car accident injuries announce themselves immediately. Blood, broken bones, obvious trauma. But the most common auto accident injuries are master disguises, hiding behind your body's natural shock response and adrenaline surge.
Here's what happens in those crucial first 48 hours:
Your nervous system floods with stress hormones that mask pain signals. Inflammation hasn't peaked yet. Soft tissues are still processing the trauma. You walk away thinking you dodged a bullet, when in reality, the timer just started ticking.
By day three, the real story begins. That stiff neck becomes constant pain. The slight headache turns into debilitating migraines. Lower back tightness evolves into shooting leg pain that makes sitting unbearable.
Sound familiar? You're not alone—and you're definitely not imagining it.
Why McDonough Emergency Rooms Miss What Chiropractors Catch
Emergency rooms save lives. They're incredible at handling acute trauma, broken bones, and life-threatening injuries. But they're not designed to catch the subtle signs of soft tissue damage that defines 90% of car accident injuries.
Here's the difference:
ER X-rays show bones and major structural damage
Chiropractic examinations reveal joint dysfunction, muscle imbalances, and nerve interference
CT scans detect bleeding and fractures
Motion palpation uncovers restricted spinal movement and tender trigger points
The result? Thousands of McDonough residents get discharged from ERs with "no significant findings" while carrying injuries that will haunt them for months—or years—without proper treatment.
A McDonough chiropractor trained in auto accident injuries knows exactly what to look for in those hidden places where your pain is brewing.
The Three Injuries That Steal Your Future (And How to Stop Them)
1. Whiplash: The Shape-Shifter
Whiplash isn't just neck pain—it's a complex injury affecting your entire kinetic chain. When your head snaps forward and backward, it creates a ripple effect:
Cervical vertebrae shift out of alignment
Shoulder muscles compensate and tighten
Thoracic spine develops protective tension
Headaches emerge from nerve irritation
Left untreated, whiplash becomes chronic pain that affects sleep, work performance, and quality of life. With proper chiropractic care, most patients see significant improvement within 6-8 weeks.
2. Lower Back Injuries: The Silent Saboteur
Your lower back absorbs tremendous force during collisions, even at low speeds. The combination of sudden deceleration and awkward positioning creates:
Lumbar disc compression leading to bulging or herniation
Sacroiliac joint dysfunction causing hip and leg pain
Muscle spasms that limit mobility and increase inflammation
The danger? Lower back injuries often start mild and worsen over time without intervention.
3. Concussion: The Invisible Enemy
You don't need to hit your head to suffer brain injury. The same forces that cause whiplash can cause your brain to bounce inside your skull, leading to:
Concentration problems
Memory issues
Sleep disturbances
Mood changes
McDonough chiropractors work alongside medical doctors to ensure comprehensive concussion care that addresses both neurological and musculoskeletal components.

Frequently Asked Questions

Within 72 hours, ideally within 24 hours. Early intervention prevents minor injuries from becoming major problems. Prompt chiropractic evaluation identifies problems before they become painful and establishes important documentation for insurance claims.

Additionally, we can refer you to top local personal injury attorneys who may arrange treatment at no upfront cost while your case is resolved. Our McDonough team verifies benefits and handles pre-authorizations to maximize your coverage.
How long does car accident injury recovery take?
Recovery timelines vary based on injury severity and individual factors. Minor soft tissue injuries often improve within 4-6 weeks, while more complex cases may require 3-6 months of treatment.
