i have an opinion about tumblr and i know that’s forbidden but:
Tumblr’s idea that men on the AITA subreddit are wrong 9/10 times and when a man is clearly not being the asshole in a relationship with a woman, people saying “this is one of the few times the man is in the right” is problematic and wrong.
Guys, women are not inherently less toxic than men. Yes theres toxic masculinity, yes theres misogyny and those play a lot into scenarios where men are being the toxic one in a relationship. But, like tumblr does, i see it getting to an extreme. And if this is allowed to continue I think this is gonna start feeding into the idea that men can’t be abused and men are always evil. This is what leads people to not believe male victims where the woman is the perpetrator or makes people genuinely shocked when a woman is wrong.
That might seem like a huge leap but these thoughts are what lead people to think that bisexual women in relationships with men are “buying into heteronormativity”. These are thoughts that lead to bisexual women saying things like “regrettably, i am attracted to men”. It’s what makes bisexual women ashamed of the part of themselves that are attracted to men. Attraction to men is a part of bisexuality and erasing that part or viewing it as shameful is biphobic.
ALSO!! how do you think trans men feel when they hear about people believing men are toxic and evil and “ew if you’re attracted to a man”. Does this seems like a huge leap? Its not, thats where these thoughts lead and if I see another person say something like “this is one of the few times the man is right” im gonna lose it
Also, the idea that woman just are more right than men and woman are right 9/10 and that leading to the idea that women can’t be abusive is also misogynistic.
