Minerva was never one to cry. And she'd be damned if she did it this time. Though she couldn't help but feel a little exhausted and maybe even a little sad about how disrespectful students were nowadays. It was April 1st, it wasn't even noon yet, and Minerva had already been the target of many pranks. Normally, she'd been able to keep control of the situation, but April Fool’s day was the one day a year where the students were braver than ever. It was also the single day with the most detentions given.
Minerva was standing outside the great hall, leaned against the wall, smoking. Her fingers delicately fidgeted with her 1950's cigarette holder, as she sighed deeply.
It had been an exhausting few morning-lessons. She had already had about three mini explosions, two stink bombs, several muggle pranking devices, and one hair colouring potion slipped into her morning coffee. The 20 minute break between lessons gave her a chance to slip away from her desk in her classroom (where she was an easy target), and get a break from it all. At least for now. In about 15 minutes, she'd have to put on a strict face and endure the next lessons before lunch.
"Hiding, are we?" A soft voice came from the door. "I envy you." Minerva joked as Albus came closer. "Why would such a lovely lady, envy a boring professor like me?" He chuckled as he lit up his pipe.
"Must I remind you that I too, am a professor?" Albus smiled at her remark.
"Now tell me," he started. "Why are you hiding?"
"Why do you think?" Minerva sounded like she'd given up. "It's April Fool’s day, and of course all the students decided that I am their ideal target."
Albus lightly put his arm around Minerva. "Don't be sad... You're strong! What can a couple of students do?" He squeezed her shoulder a bit. "It's just exhausting." Minerva sighed. "They keep getting more and more daring. Wild, even."
Suddenly, Albus laughed. "Did I say something funny?" Minerva asked.
"Actually, my dear, you did."
For a second, Minerva was offended. Until Albus continued; "Must I remind you that you too, used to be a daring student?"
At this, Minerva blushed. He was right wasn't he? She used to love pulling a tiny prank here and there. Merlin, since when had she become so strict?
"I guess you're right..." She smiled.
"I have to get back inside. But meet me for tea later, yeah?" Albus smiled too as Minerva nodded.
He softly hugged Minerva from the side which, to be honest, made shivers run down her spine, as he whispered; "And you could just hex them if you want to. You've got the headmaster's approval."
Then, Albus let go of a very flustered Minerva and headed towards the door.
"Oh, and the password for my office is sherbet cherry ."
"W-Why did you change it?"
"One can never be safe enough when it's April Fool’s Day." He smiled with a wink before getting inside again.
Minerva sighed, butterflies in her stomach. She couldn't wait to get some tea with Albus.
