Just silence and the scent of rising breads wafting through the air. On a normal night. Tonight however? It was occupied by two chaotic teens and their newly blossomed friendship. FRIENDSHIP. it was never a word marinette thought she’d ever use to describe her feelings about adrien agreste, but it was a word that she now knew suited it oh so sweet. So much sweeter than the tang that came with pinning, the bitterness of unrequite. smile spread wide and true across her features as she came to life in her domain with him. “ i know you have your heart set on making bread without a recipe like the Attempt Men on the internet, but i have one! handed down through generations with a little dupain-cheng twist. literally the best bread in Paris is at your disposal if you’d only ask!”

   it doesn’t take long for them to notice the longing glances the other is giving them—— or more specifically is giving towards the food they’ve nearly finished cooking up. having been told whenever they’re cooking it smells delicious and taste even better always makes a small sense of pride swell up, and it makes them feel great whenever someone is satisfied with their cooking... situations like these make it easy to share with someone he’s just crossing paths with at a stable. besides they always cook waaay too much for their own good, so it was always better to share the meal with someone. 

   they quickly clear their throat to get the attention of the stranger sitting off to the side of them, and once they gain his attention they start to point to the stool across from them at the other side of the cooking pot.  ☞ if you’d like you can have some. it’s seafood paella... i can usually eat a ton of it by myself, but i’ve always enjoyed it more when i have someone to share it with. ☜

“ non, you loved ladybug long before you knew – not me, adrien. ” she glances aside, steadying her breaths as her head swam. she couldn’t tell at the moment if fate were kind or cruel to have revealed her companion, her partner - the person she trusted with her life - to actually be her crush. one who had been head over heels for her alter ego. “ marinette is just your friend,  you made that abundantly clear – and that’s okay!  you have your heart set on a hero and i may be the one behind the mask, but i am not her chaton. ” if hearts could shatter, hers certainly would right now. never more had ladybug and marinette felt so totally separate. of course adrien ( & chat noir ) were in love with ladybug! why wouldn’t they be? she was perfect. everyone loved ladybug, but marinette? clumsy inarticulate, overall spaz?  not so much. bitter smile looked up to face him with tears welling, threatening to spill at any moment. she had long ago accepted people loved ladybug more than marinette, but this was the icing on the cake that truly confirmed it for her.                                   “ you love her, not me. “
