( ghost. ) First and foremost, Annette is haunted by so, so many things. Her work for Umbrella, the loss of her husband that she really should've seen coming from miles upon miles away -- but what will always haunt her the most is her neglect of Sherry. Up until the very end, she'd justified it with a classic -- "the end justifies the means," -- but it wasn't until she was face - to - face with her daughter's death, being out - mothered by a nineteen year old, that it'd finally crashed down on her. The weight of everything she'd done. The consequences that wouldn't just affect Sherry, but the entire world from here on out. What haunts her the most? Saying yes to staying alongside William to further the G - virus. If she'd just known enough to push back, none of what happened would ever have happened.
( 🍸. ) Aiding in the death of her husband. She'd known he needed to be dealt with for years before the incident, but she couldn't bring herself to do it -- something in her simply wouldn't click. She'd been with him for years. They'd had a child together. Even if their 'love' wasn't the traditional husband - and - wife kind, the sentimentality that lingered had full control over the bullets in her gun. She couldn't do it to Sherry, either, and what would she have even said? Your father got into an accident at work? No, that wouldn't have helped anything. She was intelligent. She'd of known something more was up. Simultaneously, Annette's hardest thing to get over is not killing him when she had the chance, and helping to kill him when she did.
