To the person who asked me what the difference was between a rain storm in cottfo and a radiation storm I am so sorry tumblr crashed and ate my ask.

But to answer your question the best I can- Cause its hard to describe- the best I can compare it to is :

A radiation storm roles in like a wall:

Out of the two the radiation storm is deadlier simply by the damage it can do with the air alone.

And there is no way around it, there is no way to run from it. It will catch you.

Once inside the storm looks something like this:

Its high winds and deadly toxic air, lots of lightning in some cases. The winds alone can destroy a town and the radioactive toxic air will kill anyone unlucky enough without a mask. It is possible to be out in a storm - but its not your best bet for survival you'd have to be a high level of insane and lucky to be out and survive in a radiation storm. Most people will find a basement level or concrete building to hide in or a cave. Anywhere you can duck out of the winds.

Now a rainstorm comes in from above - covering the radiation clouds in the atmosphere and turning the world nearly pitch dark.

Save the lightning

Lots. And lots. Of lightning.

And of course freezing rain - sometimes ice laced rain depending on the season

The winds are high - not quite as high as a radiation storm but high enough to do damage and tear roofs off buildings. Most people will again take cover in the limited concrete buildings, as metal scrap homes become ticking time bombs in rain storms. You're lucky to go ten seconds without a lightning strike. Its the lightning and the freezing rain that kills the most in the rainstorms.

Unlike radiation storms however - which are big hulking walls that can be hundreds of miles wide. Rain storms move like the usual weather clusters. Travelers if they are fast and lucky as hell can move out of the path of a storm

Then you just add snow in both scenarios and boom.
