figure  waits  ,  seated  on  his  motorcycle  with  a  helmet  tucked  under  his  arm  ,  the  other       (  specifically  brought  with  aya  in  mind  )      nestled  in  the  space  behind  him  .  a  single  leg  bounces  uncontrollably  ,  eyes  glued  to  his  phone  as  he  waits  a  reply  ,  hope  holding  out  that  she’s  still  awake  .

                                deadpan expression unwavering   when she asks a question , a dash of hopefulness painting her tone , the way she whispers it implying it’s some kind of secret. lithe fingers raise the wine glass to his lips , tipping his head back in one slight movement to down the rest of the red liquor sloshing about at the bottom of the glass. an inhale , letting the burn slither down his throat , then an exhale     /     nothing like the feeling of wine light his body on his fire after a long day , excusing him of many headaches to come. he hums , steady gaze tracing the rim of the glass. 

                                ‘ i believe i   am not the right person to ask that of. ’ a simple response with an underlying heavy rejection. the director of c&r would never be caught up in doing ‘ something stupid ’ at all. if he did even dare to think that , he’s sure jaehee would be after his head. ‘ ask luciel. he’d be delighted to join you , i’m sure. ’

& WHAT PART OF HIM WAS CUTE? There was cruelty running through his veins & anger wrapping itself around his heart: there was no cuteness, no kindness, within his soul & yet she seemed sincere enough that his heart ached from his doubt.

& HER LIPS CURVE INTO A SOFT SMILE, an acknowledgement of the courage it must have taken to ask such a thing — or so she assumes from the nervous motions of Aya’s fingers — & a nod of the head is her answer, a hand reaching out to take hers & prying her fingers away from the fabric. ❝I’ll always be happy to help, you know?❞ Her words are quiet, not uncertain yet not completely filled with confidence — did she know or was she so nervous because she had no clue whether Myeong-eun would react well to such a request?

❝There’s nothing to be nervous about. You can come over to my place & I’ll teach you whenever you’re free, just text me first.❞ It would be fun, in the end, to spend time with someone she cared for & to introduce her to the wonders of homemade food.

and  then  he  sees  her  ,  a  beacon  amongst  the  faces  he  doesn’t  know  .

steps  are  light  as  he  rushes  up  to  her  ,  a  hand  already  reaching  for  hers  before  digits  find  anchor  and  hold  ,  not  tightly  but  just  enough  that  if  they  took  on  this  crowd  again  it  would  take  a  tsunami  to  separate  them  .  ‘  hey  ,  ’  he  says  ,  breathless  with  laughter  and  exertion  .  ‘  ready  to  leave  ?  have  you  eaten  yet  ,  by  the  way  ?  i  know  this  great  cafe  nearby  if  you’re  hungry  ...  my  treat  .  ’
