Do Admin/Guest controlled characters count as NPCs?
Yes to both

What does this mean?
Admin controlled characters are being defined as characters who are played by a human being, but the human being in question is either anymous to the viewer or employed by the server runners. This would qualify characters such as the Eggs (QSMP) and The Watchers (Evo).
I would also personally count characters such as Xornoth (Empires) and Bertha (Witchcraft SMP) in this category, even if the people playing them are not 'admins' in the traditional sense.
Guest controlled characters are characters played by streamers and youtubers who do not usually play on that server. This would qualify characters such as the Old Sheriff (Empires) and Mumza (DSMP).
I would also count most of the Tales from the SMP cast under this umbrella. This would not count guests/crossover characters that are visiting from other SMPs, such as the Hermits on Empires SMP.

What does this mean?
An alter ego is any character that is played by an existing player on the server. Examples may include DreamXD (DSMP), Evil Xisuma (Hermitcraft) and Abueloier (QSMP).
Voting for "Only if they're explicitely shown to be a seperate person" will bar alter egos from the bracket if there isnt sufficient evidence that they're a distinct character from the person playing them.
This would allow characters like Mexican Dream (DSMP) and Renbob (Hermitcraft) to qualify, as they're shown to be distinct from the people playing them, wheras characters like Melissa (QSMP), and hOtgUY (Hermitcraft) would not, as they're implied to be costumes.

What does this mean?
Mob/Pet characters would be any character in MCYT series that is an ingame creature. Examples may include Michael the Piglin (DSMP), Carol the Zombie (Hermitcraft) and Eddie the Rabbit (Empires).
Voting for "Only if they're shown/implied to be sapient" will bar mobs from the bracket if they fall under the pet/animal umbrella, and aren't 'characters' with their own thoughts and feelings.
This would allow characters like Bubbles (Empires), Captain Jack (Hermitcraft), and Sally (DSMP) to qualify, as they're implied to be more than just animals, wheras Tilly (Limited life), Steve (DSMP), and Professor Beak (Hermitcraft) would not, as they're generally treated as pets/animals by the other players.
