Uncle’s Surprise

It had been a long while since juniper had last gone over to her uncle’s place, seemingly, something had happened, her dad had mentioned it to her that there was a big surprise this time around, something to do with drones is the hint she got from her dad.
She was a smart and sharp kid, she could read expressions, and her dads face read as more “crazy son of a gun” or something along those lines that she had heard once said around her, she asked about the saying and was told that it was a expression used when someone does something really crazy, and that it could be positive or negative, but always usually playful, at least that’s what her dad told her.
Which also kept her guessing as to what in the world it could be.
Arriving up at the house was already a interesting surprise, she noticed that clancy's regular vehicle has been modified to be able to allow someone of a shorter height and stature to get into the vehicle itself, was he giving his drones car lesson's, could that be it? No she had seen some people who had drones online teaching drones for cases of emergency in-case their caretaker became ill, that would probably be the most normal answer she could think of, not warranting the look on her dad's face.
So what could it be?
She noticed as her dad took her to the front door…a new peephole for, judging by the height, for drones had been made.
That didn’t give it away at all, she figured at least one drone would request it eventually
“Ready for your surprise with this visit, juniper?” Her father asked
Juniper nodded
He knocked on the door
“Hey, brother, its me, you read?” Her father said
Clancy was heard on the other side of the door, moving rapidly…but alot more steps than usual were being taken, or was that juniper’s head messing with her
She heard the sounds of the usual drones crowding the door a little as clancy unlocked the door and…
She blinked
Then blinked again
What she saw, judging by the clothes, was definitely her uncle Clancy, same with the voice that was chuckling at her reaction
It was a drone with Clancy’s eye color as it’s full own color, a hairstyle and hair color that her uncle mentioned that he had wanted to try, even carrying some of his usual mannerisms.
Juniper simply asked “uncle, that you?”
Clancy nodded “yeah, yeah it’s me juni-bug” he said, ruffling her hair as usual, yep, that nickname and hair ruffle seals it
She watched as her uncle and her father talked…clancy seemed, happier? There was a brightness to his eyes that she noticed and also a noticing that he didn’t have as much eye bags anymore, and she knows that those could transfer over, she had seen ford after a rough night with cricket one time.
Her father mentioned something to her uncle about “you really chose your dream hair huh?” which clancy nodded
Juniper decided to take a look around the house.
It hadn’t changed much, some adjustments to the fact that there wasn’t a human in the house hold anymore most of the time but it was still the same old clancy house for sure, stepping stools made for drones, wet suits for staying in warm water for wire worms
She shivered at recalling that virus.
She had noticed a subtle change in the meals cooking.
Not a bit of meat in sight, she remembered what clancy said about what meat does to a drone in high quantities, she nodded to herself
This was gonna be a interesting sleepover with uncle clancy
Clancy’s niece actually views some of the drones as parental figures. Drones like Ford, Brick, and Reuben are like fathers and older brothers to her
Both Clancy and his brother Hawk have the cutest pictures of Juniper when she was 6 years old meeting Clancy's drones for the first time. One such picture of Juniper hugging a drone around the neck like a stuffed animal.
She was scared of the drones at first and would start to cry when they got too close. They quickly grew on her though and she ended up bonding deeply with them. She's 12 now and very comfortable around drones. Hawk, Juniper's father made a point to teach Juniper to treat drones with the same love and respect she would give to humans. Hawk does not have any drones but he does spend a lot of time around them having regular contact with his brother Clancy
Clancy has a niece! Yes he has a brother that he has regular contact with. Clancy's brother regularly sends his niece over to Clancy's house for summer and spring breaks.
Juniper, Clancy's niece actually looks forward to summer and spring breaks! She loves being set up with a sleeping bag in the green house sometimes, movie nights with all the drones and Clancy, video games with her uncle, off roading, going target shooting, going out on camping trips,and helping her uncle fix drones. She's only 13 but learning some seriously vital skills!
Den: "ugly ass MOTHERFUCKER!!
Zay: "like Clancy said! your looking in a mirror shit for brains!"
Den: "shit for brains!? shit for brains!? i'll turn YOUR brain into shit!!"
Den starts getting ready to fight. Zay is also gearing up to face off with his twin brother, huffing hot air through their nares into each others faces and raising their fists. Zay pulls his fist back and it just about to punch his brother in the jaw when a loud scream suddenly echoes through the house from outside. The two brothers freeze and stare at each other in shock and confusion. the both of them then suddenly yell at the exact same time "JUNIPER!!!!!" They then turn and rush for the front door outside to run to Clancy's nieces rescue
Juniper, Clancy’s niece is meeting his drones for the first time far back in the past. She giggles a bit and wraps her arms around a drone, giving them a big hug. The drone smiles and hugs her back
Juniper: “they are babies!!”
Clancy: “heheh no no hon, they are grown ups, thats just as big as they get”
Juniper: “small!!!”
Clancy has left his necie at home with the drones many times. She’s on summer break but Clancy still has to work. He and Hawk trust the drones well enough to look after Juniper.
Juniper is very into the studies of animal behaviors and can spot the leader or ‘head’ of the drones when Clancy isn’t around, Brick. She’s described Brick as a large imposing male looking after his ‘pack’ or ‘herd’. He’s huge, strong, loud, and imposing yet! He’s more than a protective figure. He looks after the little drones sometimes, searching out highly vital food stuffs for the youngsters and expecting drones to keep them strong and healthy. The elderly, younger drones, and expecting parents get first dibs and pick on things under his watch, including Juniper.
He’s a fighter. A violent drone at times yet most of the time he can be seen lounging amongst the little flowers in the yard, gently speaking with with partner RoudHouse, playing with baby drones, and simply just enjoying the company of the other drones
