African Round-up #md13 Achraf Hakimi continues to sit at the top of the Bundesliga standings as Borussia Dortmund secured a hard-earned 2-0 victory at home against Freiburg. The result sees the Black and Yellows open a seven-point lead in the standings, as challengers Borussia Moenchengaldbach and Eintracht Frankfurt both lost, with Guinea international Ibrahima Traore coming off the bench in Gladbach’s 2-0 defeat at RB Leipzig. Nabil Benteleb scored from the penalty spot as Schalke ensured a good 1-1 draw at high-flying Hoffenheim. The Algerian was one of four African stars in action in the Rhein Neckar Arena as Ishak Belfodil and Nuhu Kasim played for the home side, while Hamza Mendyl and Salif Sane were in the Schalke side. There was a victory for Solomon Kalou as his Hertha side managed a 2-0 victory at struggling Hannover. The former Ivorian international’s goal draught continues though, as he remains on the two goals he scored in Hertha’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund a few weeks ago. Hannover are now rooted to the bottom of the log as Stuttgart, with DR Congo international Chadrac Akolo, beat Augsburg 1-0 at home. Pierre Kunde Malong and Jean-Philippe Gbamin helped Mainz to a 1-0 victory in Dusseldorf – a result that keeps Dusseldorf in trouble. Bundesliga Wrap #md13 And the winner this week is – Borussia Dortmund. Not only did the Black and Yellows win their own Bundesliga match – 2-0 against Freiburg, they also saw their closest rivals drop points. Dortmund now have a seven-point lead over Borussia Moenchengladbach, who were beaten 2-0 in Leipzig. The side from eastern Germany are up into third as a result. Serge Gnabry, meanwhile, returned to his old hunting ground Bremen with Bayern Munich and scored both goals for his side as they beat Werder 2-1 – a result that takes the champions to fourth in the table – still nine points behind the leaders though. At the wrong end of the table, Hannover and Dusseldorf remain deep in the relegation zone as both lost at home. Hannover were beaten 2-0 by Hertha Berlin, while Dusseldorf lost 1-0 against Mainz. Stuttgart moved out of the bottom three with a 1-0 win against Augsburg. The other results saw Hoffenheim and Schalke play to a 1-1 draw, while high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt crashed at home 2-1 against Wolfsburg. The match between Leverkusen and Nuremberg was only scheduled for Monday.
