Karen's daughter (a talented writer and inspiring individual) came up to me at a party to ask for a photograph for her mother who is a huge fan of MDLNY. When she explained that her mother is beating stage II breast cancer I asked if I could go surprise her at the hospital. Today I saw a strength in her eyes that I will never be able to shake. As we talked, she was so excited to meet Emilia, but the entire time all I could think of was how excited I was to meet HER. In her I saw my mother, my sister, my future wife, daughter, every friend I have met or will meet one day. I wish I could have stayed with her for longer than the hour that we did today. Please reach out to someone who needs you, someone you don't know or someone you do. This isn't a post about sadness - it's a post about empathy and compassion. Help fight with those who need you.
