āI've been using haze machines for many years. They are a fantastic way to add depth & atmosphere to an image. As an environmental portrait photographer... I'm always looking for ways to explore and enhance the set so I can further tie the talent to it. The haze allows me to sculpt the back lights which can help heighten the visual interest & draw attention to the talent. Haze machines can, however, be quite a challenge to control. Whether in a large/drafty space or a small/enclosed room.... It's best to pre-plan & purchase the optimal fluid for the desired hang time & effect. A flag or reflector can be a big help in fanning the fog into a haze & controlling the draft.ā
