Hi there! I've been wanting to get back into writing so I'm really excited about this event! I'm wondering if it's okay to take inspiration from a figure in folklore rather than a specific story? Or if a version of that figure is in a modern movie and I can base my story off of that movie? For example, the movie is about figures from folklore but is a very modern take on them, so I'm interested in basing my story on those characters in that kind of a more modern setting rather than a specific folktale or myth.
