BWAY COLOR SERIES
1/5 (BLUE)
Blue as a color associated with open spaces, freedom, intuition, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Blue also represents meanings of depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability, faith, and intelligence. With characters who usually use blue they are loyal to their core but while it is a strength it is also a weakness. Take a character who won’t admit to their faults. They are loyal to whatever belief they have, even if it is the thing that makes it so they’re an antagonist in their own story. Characters like Eliza, Marius & Christine have trust in the things around them and while they might lack confidence. They gain it as their story progresses. In Broadway costumes blue is the second most used shade/color before it being black.
What is interesting as someone who has studied costumes, is that characters who wear blue often are seen as the centerpiece to a much larger plot. Take Effie, Julia Trojan and Elsa. Each of them has this internal battle that leads them to this ending that though it’s not what they planned. It’s what they have. Take Cady, Veronica and Evan who truthfully screw up, they’re their own antagonists even if there are others who fit the mold. Their actions betray their loyalty to those around them and their selves and that is their downfall. Finally loyalty to their work in JM Barrie, Christian and Jenna who even at the deepest and darkest end. They keep hard working and have this intelligence to their craft and to their imagination. The color blue in my opinion is one that’s absolutely fascinating.

Veronica: I lost McNamara
Heather Chandler: HOW DO YOU LOSE A PERSON?
Veronica: … in my defense she’s very small.
Janis: stop asking me if I'm straight, gay, bi, whatever. I identify as a FUCKING THREAT.
