Which Yiynova tablet do you currently have, and are you enjoying it? I'm looking into screen tablets like that without dishing out for what a Cintiq would cost.
I’m using the MVP20U+FE, and I’m still trying to get used to it tbh so I can’t give you a proper review, but I’ll try to write down some of my thoughts so far.
I’ve never used a tablet monitor of any kind before, so the transition from using a regular pen tablet to this thing has been kind of rough. I feel like getting used to seeing my hand while I draw etc is definitely the biggest problem I’ve had with the yiynova, rather than it somehow not living up to my standards. I also don’t like the design of the yiynova pen, the buttons are too close to the area where you’re supposed to grip it, so I end up pressing the buttons when I don’t intend to (I had to disable them to solve this). There’s also some slight pressure issues if you hold your pen in a weird position, but this was fixed for me in a couple of hours, when I instinctively learned to adapt to the tablet’s little quirks and found a good position to draw in. I think most of my problems have been solved now that I’ve just started adapt to working with a different tablet and by adjusting some pressure settings on the tablet and clip studio paint.
I’ve never tried a cintiq myself and I won’t be able to afford one in a long while, so I can’t actually compare the two effectively. I’m quickly getting used to the yiynova though, and stuff like pressure recognition, overall design and the sturdy stand with a desk edge stopper have been great. The best part - along with the amazing price - is the size of the drawing area though, you can really get nice long strokes with the ~20 inch display. I’ve seen people complain about how bulky the bigger yiynovas are, but I think the size is definitely an asset, and the stand that comes with the tablet is surprisingly flexible. Overall I’d say the yiynova is a good alternative to at least a regular pen tablet, if you want to upgrade to a tablet monitor. Like I said before, I can’t really compare it with the cintiq right now, but I feel like the yiynova’s specs are gonna be enough for my needs at least when I get used to drawing directly on the screen. Despite the difficulties, I haven’t regretted getting a yiynova. If anyone else has some of their own experiences to add to this, feel free to do so! I hope this helped!
