Samaveda is a musical scripture in which the mantras are sung during a Yajna, special rituals, and havanas too. Samaveda is a collection of 99 mantras if we talk only about the root mantras - all mantras are musical and poetic in nature. Collectively, these mantras form a Samaveda. Samaveda word comes from 'Sama' which means a song or maybe chanting that is used for invocations of demigods, demi goddesses. One can find a total of 1875 invocations that are used in Samaveda.
