Nada mejor que Spotify diciéndome qué escuchar cada semana. Yo le hago caso y muy pocas veces se equivoca. Sinkane es Ahmed Gallab y en su curriculum tiene colaboraciones con Yeasayer y Caribou. Wiki insiste en que es krautrock, free jazz y funk rock mezclado con Sudanese pop, Pitchfork que es Afropop y electrónico... Bah.  Nada mejor que toparse con canciones que aunque se escapen de los géneros, sí suenan a algo (no creo que haga falta decir a qué) y tienen la mágica fórmula del riff que se repite y crece a lo largo de la canción. “How we be” de Sinkane. La canción abre con un “Oh, you’ve got life right in the pocket” y así suena en vivo:

The first time I saw @Sinkane he was playing to an empty venue in Portland, ME opening for !!!. A few years and an album later I couldn't be happier to run into him again after opening for a sold out #ToroyMoi in NYC. A true artist and a really nice guy. #sinkane #terminal5 #nyc #meanlove

Initial Reaction:

I love Sinkane, I can’t wait to hear his new songs! I’m so pumped, I loved his weird worldly, yet other-worldly grooves on Mars. Its been two years and he’s just put up a new song on Soundcloud, oooooo yeah!

Nope, not great. Don’t like it. What’s the the super slow pace? Man if he had a down-tempo song last time it didn’t plod like this thing. And the haunting vocals? What gives! I want some fun in the sun dazed day drinking tunes! What a rip!

Current Opinion:

Okay this one really grew on me. Sure its plodding, but its a completely different sound compared to Mars and the vocals are great and ghostly! The bass is a funky flexible line that’s probably stalking you like a specter in your dreams after listening. The sparingly used wah accenting the verse is perfect. The fact that the song is called Hold Tight and it has such a chilling atmosphere...shivers are running down my spine. Its good, I take it all back. You win ghosts, you always do… just leave me alone and quit throwing parties on Sunday nights you crazy kids. Do I always have to clean up your cans of tallboys? You live here too you know!

oke so there is something i need to get of my heart!

there is this boy and it is just a friend of mine and he have this girlfriend and stuff and her last bf cheated on her 2 times! so now this friend of mine went to another country with a school exchange and he was staying at this girl and he kissed that girl and he is dating her!!!! and that foreign girl knows he have a gf but they dont seem to care! and like omg I'm so mad at him and tommorow he is going to break up with his gf back here !!!!
