I can speak with first hand knowledge, both from the prospective of an educator and parent of how the parcel taxes we as a community pay directly benefit our students, our schools, and our community at large. Funding generated from these taxes pay for, among many things, our schools’ librarians, music teachers, coaches and counselors, as well reduced class sizes, all of which makes for strong schools which in turn make for a strong community.

Budget cuts for education, especially in California, are worsening each year. In Union City, the students of New Haven Unified School District (NHUSD) are affected because they're not getting the education that they deserve and need. Union City is yet again shooting for a second chance to pass a parcel tax, MEASURE H on the June 5th ballot. MEASURE H will help fund after school activities, reduce the student to teacher ratio & therefore have a better learning environment, provide enough academic materials (textbooks), and the many other important factors that are on the verge of being cut. Come march with NHUSD students, teachers and other people that care about our future generation's education on SATURDAY MARCH 31, 2012 at 9:00 AM from the James Logan HS parking lot to Union Landing! Parents, teachers, students, and elected officials will be speaking at this rally as well and voice their support!! If you attended last year's march to the district office after Measure B did not pass, you have the opportunity again to attend this rally and VOICE YOUR concerns. "SOME CUTS NEVER HEAL" but MEASURE H will absolutely help us in the meantime and provide quality education to our peers. Let's make this rally as big as possible and attract the most attention we can to show how crucial it is to pass this tax this time around!! YES ON MEASURE H!
