In this all-encompassing digital age, it’s still important for kids to build with their hands. Meccano is helping to enable that skill with its robotics platform and mechanical building sets. The toy company has undertaken an initiative called “The Meccano Lab” to demonstrate the range of creative potential that can be made with its building sets. Hopefully, even inspire young kids to become inventors themselves. The physical space for the lab was designed and built by Brett Doar, the contraptionist known for his intricate machines and engaging experiential approach. For this project, Meccano focused on bringing kids to try out the system and embrace learning STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). The kids experimented in the lab and were able to see firsthand that the possibilities in building with Meccano sets are truly endless. “Kids are going to learn a lot,” says Doar. “But I don’t think they’re going to realize it, because they’re having so much fun.”
