I’ve got to admit, I’m a much bigger enthusiast of Artisan Keycaps than the keyboards they go on. I truly believe keycaps can be an absolute work of art! I know many newcomers or even purists in the hobby bash on the absurd prices artisans may fetch, but I believe they are worth every penny. The sheer creativity, patience, and innovation of the artists that make them is admirable. You aren’t necessarily paying for the look of it, but the time it takes to make them and the years of artistic talent and skill that cap making may require.
With that being said, this is the Type Beast by the legendary GAF caps (Grimey As Fvck). Kudos and Koala are the power couple behind the creation of these caps, many of which are no longer made. Each cap requires hours upon hours of precision and skill to make. I’ve had the honor to meet both of them a few times. They’re humble and low key and exactly the kind of people who make the hobby such a great community to be in.
On the aftermarket (people selling things 2nd hand) artisans like the type I’ve posted may fetch anywhere between $250 - $600 USD. They’re usually in the middle and around $350.
