Reading Set 1: Distributed Mechanical Actuation of Percussion Instruments - Sheffield, Gurevich
This article seemed thoroughly researched and gave a good overview of past and current work in actuated instruments. This is not an area that I am at all familiar with but it was explained quite concisely. It was also refreshing to get a complete and detailed explanation of the project. In the earlier article about looms, I honestly had no idea how the old looms worked. The diagrams and terms used to describe them were very confusing and did not provide any detail. I also liked the pictures included in this article which gave me a feel for what the apparatus looks like and how it is used. It was also great to hear where they intend to go with this work and their future aspirations and improvements for the project. Overall I think this was a very concise article.
