Butterfly Jars and Scars A closed door that once contained time Is now an open window to undiscovered dreams in echoing forgotten chimes. The harmonic glass tapping from coated wings flapping helps me to forget what's happening. Watching them flutter about in colorful spirals disperses my dark clouds of doubt. Hearing my heart beating in place of the old clock ticking. And I wonder if magical butterfly jars have the power to heal my soul's scars. Materials: Five Real butterflies, vintage grandfather clock, antique clock parts. This is one of my oldest sculptures. It hasn’t been shown at a gallery since 2013 until now! Here's a video of "Gilded Dream Box". Now exclusively available @beardedladyvintage in Burbank, CA. Within an antique brass & glass cage holds a butterfly created from watch & clock parts. With the movement of a golden hand crank, this enchanted mechanical butterfly flutters above real preserved mini roses gilded in genuine 23k gold flakes. Blood red drips down the roses into a sparkling pool of broken wine colored glass that shimmers like rubies. Surrounding the outside of the cage are bottled specimens of a rattlesnake vertebrae, a coyote claw, and a dwarf seahorse all gilded in 23k gold flakes along with another bottled specimen of a tiny amber butterfly that is also gilded in gold but by nature. This sculpture sits upon a vintage wooden drawer set music box. In one drawer is a beautiful chained magnifying glass and with it is a miniature leather specimen journal with all the specimen information handwritten by the artist.
