Step-by-step Valkyrie painting progress, shown backwards from finish to beginning. I painted her in PanPastels with acrylic details and accents. Lots of pearl in both the paint and the pastels. Also, even though you can’t see it, lots of purple layers. Pearly purple is PanPastel magic for helping transition from the mac-and-cheese orange to a nice golden bay.
I still have mixed feelings about how her wing gradient turned out. Her color scheme is inspired by MCU Valkyrie’s uniform, so I wanted the wings to be dark blue at the end. But I also really liked the contrast of the pearly quills against the blue feathering from a few steps back.
I’m pretty proud of her eye though. I painted it multiple times, and it was always so dark it got lost in the shadow of her eyelashes, until I went over it in gold.
