But! You did piqued my interest in the said song so I searched for it on Youtube and instantly fell in love! I love the whole black tie costume used for the music video so I drew Solas in it.

I hope it’s an appropriate appreciation to Black & Gold by Sam Sparro!

Her first thought was to get rid of the demons. Her second was to wrench her hand away from the stranger who grabbed it, but it was caught---his hand clamped around her wrist, and her palm pulled inexorably towards the breach in the sky. Once the electricity stopped zapping her nerves she was free, and she stumbled back.

What was that? 

“What did you do?” she asked the stranger who’d grabbed her---but she was too dazed to hear all of his explanation, pleasant though his voice was. That’s too many big words, she thought dimly. I just got zapped by a green light in the sky. Her ears were ringing, but she managed to get the gist of what he said: the mark was good for something. She looked again, at him and the other newcomer---and her first thought then, mind still dazed, was that the joke didn’t work with two elves present. No one was going to start a joke with, “So a dwarf, a human, and two elves walk into a bar.” One of them would have to go.

She was just, just cognisant enough that her new companions probably wouldn’t think the joke was funny. Or they wouldn’t find it appropriate, given the situation. She shook her hand and closed her fingers over her still-glowing palm, zipping her mouth as the dwarf introduced himself. Varric Tethras. The writer. Perhaps he’d appreciate the joke. When would her head stop pounding?

“My name is Solas, if there are to be introductions. I am pleased to see you still live.”

Were they acquainted? She would have remembered an apostate elf with such easy confidence. It was unusual---but no. Apparently this foreign mage had kept her alive while she slept. An oddly intimate start; it made her nervous.

No. No, there was a tear in the sky. That made her nervous. This strange elf could stop the mark from killing her as much as he desired; in fact, she’d encourage it. She liked the not dying thing. Perhaps she’d make a habit of it.

She’d just have to live with the joke not working.
