Tumblr Twitter and Youtube: Why Am I Here Again?
There eventually comes a point in every blogger’s life where they suddenly realize that they have inevitably run out of things to talk about at that particular moment in time. Hence the dire need for a multitude of adjectives and adverbs throughout this long, drawn out blog in the name of effectively finishing it up.
I’ve talked in the past about my experience with Wordpress. Once again, I want to reiterate that it is the devil and should not be trusted. It tricks you with false promises of easy to use systems and then switches things around on you and laughs as you sadly try to finagle your way through it because surely it wasn’t this hard the first time?
Then there was wiki. Much like its demonic brother-in-law Wordpress, it is a false savior, offering you the simple, easy lie of an easy to use system and then mocking you as you sob into your keyboard with the lines of code looking down upon you like a derisive feudal lord, uncaring of you college plights.
I also mentioned Weebly, which has been a white, sandy beach in a sea of awful attempts of making a website. Sweet, kind Weebly who saves time and effort with simple templates and an easy to learn drag and drop system with buttons, social media, and galleries. Thank you Weebly.
I also mentioned Storify, which has been amazing and easy to use, but, at the same time, a bit tedious and in need of some better filters.
But I haven’t talked about the three websites I’ve been using the most while taking this class. YouTube, Tumblr, and Twitter.
For those of you who have just been seeing only one of the three (which is probably not many I have had almost no traffic on any of those and that’s ok) I tend to either write the essays in tumblr, and then announce them on twitter for my class, or I’ll make a short video and post it on YouTube before doing the same thing. But, for all that I’ve been using these three, I haven’t talked about them.
Twitter? There’s really not much to say. Seriously, they limit how much you’re allowed to say. It drives me insane. Sure, I have a hard time reaching the end of the five hundred word count for these blogs, but 140 characters? That’s just mean. And rude. And hurtful. See, that’s four words right there that were COMPLETELY necessary. But not according to Twitter. No, you should limit yourself! Bah, I shall have none of your limitations Twitter. Come the end of class, be gone with you.
As for Youtube, I’ve actually been enjoying doing the vlogging there. I’ve actually made an avatar and intend to start an actual blog come probably October-ish where I’ll be speaking through the avatar. I’ll probably attach that to this tumblr completely, but It’s driving me nuts doing all the editing necessary for them.
Finally, Tumblr. The holy land for nerds, geeks, social justice warriors, and everything in between. So, History/Math/Science/Supernatural/Sherlock/Hannibal/Ect. Side of tumblr: what do YOU think of the cultural mecca we’ve created online?
