Cannot wait to begin my medic program, though I will miss all of the fishing and travel adventures we’ve been going on this summer...
Just another night after a final celebration #medicschool #shebang #class32
My preceptor, who became one of best friends has been badgering me to go to medic school since I got my EMT card. I started working for the local transport company, it's close to home, and it's relatively easy. I've brushed off medic school because I was hell bent on waiting until I recertified my BLS at least once. Well now that I'm waiting to officially recert, he's been on my ass about it since. Today while having lunch with a friend who will be moving to Austin in the next month put it into perspective. Get your medic, work a busy system and you can work anywhere if you set yourself to it hard enough. Time management has never been my strong suit, and I know I need to be amazing at it once I do finally go. I never realized the support system I had behind me until today. From paramedics I befriended working at my local transport company, to old friends who initially taught me. It definitely won't be the same now that the two people I wanted to work with will both me states away, but they'll always be just a phone call or text message away. I know I'll want to give up, to say "fuck this" and leave. Depending on how my agility testing goes for the FDNY will determine if I go to medic school this coming year or not. As much as I want FDNY, I think I'm ready for medic school.
