Fun facts about asps:

- You thought they were snakes?  Haha, no, only in the really loose medieval/ancient sense of "serpents" being sort of dragony or doglike or ratlike (see previous post about ostiches) and only sometimes elongated or taily like we'd expect.

- If you try to charm them, they'll press one ear to the floor and block the other one with their tail.  "NANANANA I CAN'T HEAR YOU" was apparently a good defense, once.

- Why would you charm an asp?  Either because it's got a precious stone in its head or because it's guarding a tree that drips balm.

- What if one bites you?  Well, it depends on what kind it was.  You'll either die of thirst, sweat blood, swell up and rot, or calmly drift off to sleep...forever.  But you'll probably die, yeah.
