kid meme: the bear and the deer.
Name: Ivan Raphael Bauer
Gender: male
General Appearance: absurdly tall, not as thickly built as his father, keen features and simmering discontent. dark hair and dark green eyes.
Personality: Enigmatic, serious, self interested; the only thing hiding behind his sharp teeth is an even sharper tongue. Roguish, intelligent, charismatic. Nicknamed “Ivan the Terrible” by those who deal with him, wears that title proudly.
Special Talents: finding a place for things, seeing potential, walking into rooms and everyone deferring to him immediately, reading people and things, knowing things he is not supposed to know.
Who they like better: lmao frank of course jesus christ.
Who they take after more: Tricky question; surface level, his father. Deep down, he sees himself more like his mother, only allowed to be more critical due to his gender.
Personal Head canon: He has multiple ventures, but doesn’t actually kill anyone. Though sometimes people who deal with him wish they were dead.
Face Claim: Francis Cadieux
The person on the other side of the line picks up quickly, greets him quickly, asks if anything is wrong. Ivan is smiling, the cigarette burning like incense in the ashtray to his side. He doesn’t smoke but he likes the smell of it. “Good afternoon, no, no, nothing is wrong. I am just calling concerning a woman named Eloise... yes, my cousin, you guessed right.” There’s a pause, a laugh at some weak protesting made on the other end of the line, a longer pause of dead silence as he waits, and waits, for the man to pick up that fighting this won’t do anyone any good. “No, no, you see, I’m not calling you on her behalf. I’m calling you as a piece of friendly advice. She hardly needs me to protect her, you’ll come to find.” A pause, another laugh. ( the sky darkens when he laughs, they say, the birds stop singing. ) “Ellie’s business is none of mine. But yours is, and she will ruin you if you don’t behave yourself. I would prefer to not have my investment be turned to ash because you cannot get over your pride and mind your manners... No, I cannot help you, this is the extent of my power as far as she is concerned. Just do as she says and don’t think of her as some humanitarian.” There is some more advice, some more laughter on Ivan’s end, and a terse goodbye with the other man shaking in his boots. He lights another cigarette and sets it in the ashtray. Eloise is something else entirely. A bit of warning does most men some good, as far as she’s concerned. ( her business is none of his. but her safety is another matter. )

a strange, strange man.
We can’t be all like Mr. Kuznetsov and have the good fortune of being allowed to be both Terrible and have good taste
❝ my woman would never wear anything like that. ❞ Nikolai Kuznetsov
@medvxd Meme
They are not quite Working yet, and so he can excuse himself for the slight furrowing of his brow, the hint of exasperation in his voice when he looks up to find Kuznetsov looming in the door frame. “I will not buy another shirt to suit your vanity”
It will not occur to him that the Bear might be referring to the Emissary prepping behind him for several long moments more (and even then he finds her more likely to be her own woman if she is anything at all.)
VOICEMAIL: "German. Six weeks she is missing. If I trace this back to your people, I will dismantle your organization piece by piece, but only after I personally rip you apart joint by joint. She has not meddled in your affairs." (it took him two weeks to find this phone number. TROL has upped their game. there is a pause.) "If you are not involved, I will alert you to the resolution of this matter." (a nice code for 'I will let you know if she is dead.')
@medvxd
The man who has hated him ever since he learned She didn’t (and with good reason. look at the ruins his machinery leaves behind) leaves him a voicemail in the middle of the night, in the middle of a job. He is expecting vitriol, he is expecting the anger he missed out on the first time. ( In some ways, that silence, this calm accusation is worse than everything TROL has asked of him. )
He left her bleeding behind him when he went to a doom that didn’t come. He left. The Russian is to be commended for including him at all even if it crushes what is left of his heart, even if it rips the breath from his lungs
Six weeks
Most people who are not found in 48 hours are not found at all, you know. The leeway for operatives can be a little longer but–
(but, he is reminded of how many operatives he must have vanished in his own career)
This is not a message that needs his reply; but he is a fool and the brother of a traitor under all that stone.
