My brain says ramble, so this afternoon’s ramble is the character Inuyasha.
Tbh, I remember only bits of the show here and there from when I watched it in 2022. I think I made it to the middle of season 3 before I stopped watching it. But that was due to anime/cartoon hopping. I do plan on finishing this series one day tho. I remember liking it very much.
Anyway, for some reason, he was one of my fav character but also one that I really didn’t like?
One part of me says to hug him. I mean, look at him! He’s so fluffy!!!!! And his big doggy smile! The cuteness aggression inside me says to snuggle him. I really would’ve busted a Kagome and pet his ears to see how soft they are. Dude seems so cuddly (physically appearance, not personality wise)!
Also, the ‘never give up’ attitude and protective part of his personality were pretty cool in 15 yr old me’s eyes. Seeing him travel in his group, made me wish that I could travel with them too. It looked adventurous, exciting, and a bit fun.
Then there’s the other part of me that absolutely wanted to strangle him. Idk why, but 15 yr old me was ready to fight him (even tho if he existed he would’ve kicked my butt 🫠).
The fact that he was rude to most people and sometimes his friends, and I thought he was kinda grouchy all the time, made me wanna fight him? 15 yr old me really said ‘I challenge you, overgrown husky! Get ready, cuz I’m sending you to a healer!’
So, yeah. 15 yr old me had a weird admiration/hate relationship with Inuyasha and was either ready to snuggle him to death or attempt to fight him (almost) to the death. (Me from the past never wanted him dead, just bruised up.)
I’m thinking it was a probably personality clash. I eventually stopped feeling that urge to jab him in the stomach. (Later that energy focused on a few MHA and TOH characters, but that’s for another day.)
The character development does happen in the show btw. I do recommend this one to anyone that’s been considering watching it. The animations are beautiful and goofy. I remember the story feeling a bit long, but I think if I were to rewatch it, I’d zip right thru the series. I don’t know how the anime and manga differ tho. I only read vol 1. (My library didn’t have vol 2-5, so I couldn’t continue 🫠) But I think reading the manga would also be a fun experience.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk ramble.
