Unmistakable Potential- Pokemon AU w/ meganedefense
Sometimes life could get in the way of teenagers wanting to branch out into their own things, to live their own lives. Such a fate befell two young boys who were already close to adulthood. One at eighteen, the other at seventeen, these two were cursed to give up a life that was normal for boys and girls in order to help their families. Despite those close to them pushing to go out and see the world, neither was selfish enough to abandon kin in need during harsh times. Finally, however, just as they were nearing adulthood, both young men found a break in the monotony that pulled them away from their dreams. They were finally able to set out and become the pokemon trainers they had always wanted to be.
First thing first, however. Preparations needed to be done. Belongings needed to be packed; only the essentials of course, some small amounts of studying needed to be done, and the goodbyes to the families that had cared for them up to this point needed to be said. The last thing that was needed was transportation. But through Professor Birch's kindness, the two households were sent a plane ticket from Fortree to Littleroot. When he received a call that two boys who had missed their opportunity at a younger age to embark on a pokemon journey, he was more than thrilled to send them the means to come to the little town where his lab was stationed in order to give them their license, as well as a starter pokemon.
And so the awaited morning arrived.
After Moriyama checked over the things he had packed a couple nights previous, making sure he had all the essentials, he clicked his backpack shut for the umpteenth time since he initially packed it. Slight paranoia pricked at his mind about how he might have forgotten to pack something, so he didn't get quite as much sleep as he would have liked. However, a quick cup of coffee and breakfast would be enough to give him the energy boost he needed to make the trek through the city and towards the small airport outside the city. It wasn't big enough to house any of the large commercial planes, but its existence was essential for anyone that wanted to come to and from the city quickly, as it was surrounded by wildlife and greenery.
As Moriyama neared the end of his walk towards the small little airport tucked away at one of the few open-sky parts of the city, the hum of an aviator plane reached his ears, and he knew his ride to a new beginning was waiting for him. The sound grew louder and louder until finally the long, fenced in stretch of concrete came into view, revealing a white aviator with a dark green streak that lead from the nose of the plane to the tail. Despite being a small little plane that couldn't hold more than a few people, it looked sturdy, and well taken care of. Moriyama had never flown before though, so he was admittedly a little nervous. There wasn't time to wait, however, so he quickly gathered his courage and headed for the open door of the plane as the pilot went over some last-minute safety checks.
It wasn't until he got right up next to the plane, about to climb on as his fingers gripped the insides of the planes for leverage, when he saw another figure sitting near the other side of the back seats. Blinking, a realization dawned on him. That's right, his parents said there'd be another boy that would be joining him on the plane, that was just starting out too. Someone in the same situation as him. But what he didn't expect was the face that he saw, eyes steely behind a pair of glasses as they focused on a book in front of the reader's face. He had seen this person around on occasion, but the blonde in front of him wasn't really known for being social, so they never really talked, only passed by each other on occasion. He would have continued to stare, baffled, at how the person he was going to be spending several hours on a plane with seemed like one of the least likely to bother going out on a journey, when the pilot called out from outside to tell them to close the door and buckle up.
He cleared his throat to chase away any awkwardness he had felt, and pulled himself fully into the small little plane, positioning himself in a way that he could remove his backpack and settle it between his feet on the floor. As he buckled up in silence, all sorts of things swam through his head. It was finally happening... he was finally getting the opportunity to go out and explore the world, see new things, and make a new friend that would stay with him for life. Anxiety and excitement welled up inside of him, and his hands clenched the belt that was now secure around his waist. Finally....
