Guys listen you don’t need to hate a popular ship just because you like a less popular ship…

for example (and this is just an example, I’m not targeting these specific people)

I see a lot of posts under Mileven, that is JUST talking about Mike and Eleven, and they have anti-byler in the tags even though there’s NO mention of will. Also all this discourse about who’s gonna end up with Mike in canon. IT DOESNT MATTER. If he ends up with will, cool! If he ends up with Eleven, cool! If he ends up with someone else/doesn’t end up with anyone, cool! Why are we hating on random people on the internet for shipping two people that you don’t ship? don’t get me wrong, not everyone has to like the same ship, but let’s not hate on other people for liking a different one okay?

I really don’t want to see ‘anti-*ship name*’ in the tags unless you’re ranting about why you dislike the ship. And also even if you are ranting, you don’t need to throw hate on people that do ship those two people. Just talk about why you don’t like it and go.

Another thing, sometimes I see on a post talking about how ‘You definitely shouldn’t ship this because it’s not the most popular ship!!!!’ I kid you not, that was the exact reasoning on this one post I saw.

Of course, there are some ships that aren’t good at all, such as P3d0philia, and stuff like that. Those are a different story.

an open letter to “a*mys” who really have no place in this fandom, let alone any:

I think I speak on behalf of many fans across the board when I say that “fans” or “stans”, or whatever the hell you wanna call yourselves, like you overshadow the genuine people who are here to actually support an artist we all love. Not only are you all childish, but you act out of spite and will do anything to make sure other groups fail. And for what?

I don’t know if you’ve all noticed but there are other groups that exist outside of bts and some groups, dare I say it, that do produce better content & music than they do. It isn’t a criticism to bts themselves but rather acknowledging the fact that other artists have worked hard, if not harder, to reach the same place and achieve the same goal.

A fandom is not a religion. It is not a cult. And despite the fandom name, it is not an army. It is not a governing body of any sort, but rather a group of people who have come together to share the same love and passion for the same songs, music and the people that work so hard to provide us with it. So it won’t kill you to support other artists, it won’t kill you to let bts lose, it won’t kill you to act like a decent fucking human being and it certainly won’t kill you to shut the fuck up for once.

And let’s be honest, I really don’t think winning anything else will mean much to them, not in the grand scope of things. I don’t say it smugly or to brag, but to express just how boring it is to watch a group reach their peak far too early because they think success is defined by endlessly pumping out mediocre music just to please their insatiable, impatient and nasty fans. Yes I’m proud of how far they have come but their awards and trophies have become nothing more than bragging rights for a*mys, useless silver accumulating dust in a cabinet. Winning is not everything and certainly means nothing if the content is subpar.

Even if you have no interest in other groups, even if bts are your one and only ults, that does not in any way, shape or form give you the excuse to bash on others the way you all do. Your behaviour is appalling and so shameful, so abnormal it’s actually unbelievable. Your lack of empathy and understanding is astonishing; the way I’ve seen you all treat monbebes recently and even turning on other genuine armys for supporting another group instead of your precious bts is just truly disgusting.

Your obsessive nature with winning and putting others down and your weird superiority complexes never cease to amaze me in the worst way and I hope that someday soon you’ll look back at all this and realise it was never that fucking deep.

Your behaviour is an eerie echo of s*saeng behaviour, short of the actual stalking.

While yes, some accounts and people behind said accounts are clearly trolls, there are some of you who actually believe bts are your gods. They’re not. They are just normal human beings you have so foolishly pumped all your cash into and who’ve now become the very people you like to cry about the most; multi-millionaires, billionaires, celebrities with fading personalities.

I would say I’m disappointed but disappointment would imply that I expect better from you all and the honest truth is I really don’t. “Fans” like y’all are toxic, lonely and delusional and this behaviour only tarnishes bts’ image further. You drive away other genuine fans and just dampen the whole experience.

I suggest you all either get help or go outside because there is more to life than dangerously obsessing over people who don’t even know you exist. Get a life or a hobby that actually requires you to use the last two brain cells you have fighting in your empty head for attention. Imagine working this hard only to have fans like y’all? They honestly deserve so much more.

Y’all need to grow up and realise Kpop isn’t that deep and get over yourselves and your superiority & god complexes. Humble yourselves, you fucking morons.

I cannot believe you came to my inbox, on anonymous no less, with somebody’s else’s opinion and called it an explanation. They are well entitled to their own opinions and feelings on the matter but their opinions and feelings differ from my own. However, I would very much appreciate a link to this “explanation” bc it don’t half make sense to me.

Of course they’re not locs, I would expect bts to know much better than to do something like that but my point is why must he change his hair to imitate a black hairstyle? If you’ve already got the clothes, swagger, attitude etc. for a performance, isn’t that enough to get your point across?

Using my voice, as a black army, also means calling people out who do unnecessary things e.g. Lisa wearing box braids for the sake of looking “aesthetic” or some shit for the MV. Just bc BTS are my favs it does not mean I will sit here twiddling my thumbs and overlooking anything questionable they may do.

I ain’t slandering him, I do not have the time or energy for that shit. I’m simply asking why, like many other fans. I don’t expect things like this from them especially since they’re so “woke”, so excuse me if I grimace at the bitter taste of disappointment this serves.

The fact is, black culture is forever being ripped off one way or another, sans credit or tribute, by non-blacks. And it’s not just exclusive to Kpop, it’s present in rap too; the likes of French Montana and Tekashi69, both non-blacks using “nigga” in their songs. Kpop artists use popular dance moves, created and made popular by black people in their choreographies. Some of their dress sense is inspired by black culture. The hairstyles that are being ripped off, also black culture. The fact they even rap? Surprise, you guessed it: black culture. The list goes on.

Yes these may all be little things but these little things snowball to create one big problem and just leaves us black fans deflated and feeling defeated. The one thing many of us turn to to get away from the troubles of life is music and the people that deliver it. if the people behind the music are an echo of the problems we face in life then where else have we got to go?

Bottom line is, I am disappointed and I have reason to be. I do not need anyone else’s opinion or “explanation” sent to me as a form of enlightenment or “education”. My black skin is education enough. Perhaps next time, come to me with your own opinion instead of somebody else’s. Maybe then we can have a real conversation.

By mixed I assume you mean mixed-race? Obviously I don’t agree with it, and I hate it, like fetishising any race.

I haven’t experienced it myself seeing as I don’t look biracial but I’ve had people (mostly white) tell me, once I’ve told them I’m mixed, that they “wanna find a black partner to make mixed babies with bc mixed-race babies are so beautiful”. I’ve even heard black people say they wanna find an Asian partner to make “blackanese” babies and I just–

I also don’t appreciate the colourism that most biracial people (or people of colour in general) experience but that’s another topic for another day.

It always makes me uncomfortable, regardless of which race or ethnicity you’re talking about. Fetishising it is weird. Why anyone would want a specific race for a partner is beyond me.
