Since the fall colors have been less than stellar this year, I’ve decided to share some of my older fall photos to be more festive for the season.

This one was taken 2 years ago in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at one of the most iconic waterfalls in the park--Meigs Falls. On that particular day, my family and I were headed for Elkmont, but we decided to take a pit stop at the falls since the foliage was absolutely breathtaking. We somehow managed to fight off a small crowd just to get a few shots, but man---were they worth it!

My family and I traveled up to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in an effort to rekindle a tradition that we had missed out on for the last couple of years--explore the abandoned vacation homes in Elkmont with the fall colors serving as a backdrop. Not surprisingly, it was very busy in the park yesterday, especially around Cades Cove. Elkmont, which is typically quiet, was also packed. I took this shot of Meigs Falls yesterday afternoon. We were lucky to even find a place to park at the pull off! The fall colors were exquisite in the Smokies, with many yellows and orange hues on full display.

I have never been able to take a decent photo of Meigs Falls in the Smokies, but I do like this shot of it pretty well. My attempts at taking pictures of Meigs Falls are so bad that when I used to be on DeviantART, professional photographers would berate me for it, saying that "there is no excuse for this". There's also no excuse for people being rude, either. I'm still learning from my mistakes. Taking photos from afar isn't my strongest point. I need to work on that. :)
