Real Estate - Live at The Corner Hotel
Amidst my frustration of not getting Radiohead tickets a few weeks back I impulsively bought tickets to Real Estate, who were touring for Golden Plains. I recently purchased their album Days and loved the tracks. It turned out it was one of the best impulse gig decisions that I have ever made.
I dragged The Boyfriend as per usual, with only "It's Real" as a reference. Being unfamiliar with their previous records, I admitted to one of The Boyfriend's mates we saw right before the show that this was a bit of a wildcard. He assured us that Days is good enough to go on with, as it was their best record to date.
TWERPS opened. They were awesome, rocking tunes reminiscent of the 90s. They were so good I was convinced to buy their CD. The Boyfriend's mate again assured me that it was a good purchase as apparently they sound a lot better on record.
Real Estate did not disappoint. It was the epitome of great, dreamy, happy pop music. They were solid and the tracks from Days did stand out compared to the other songs. Granted, it might be due to familiarity. Nevertheless, it was a very enjoyable performance. "Easy" and "It's Real" were probably my the highlights. We came home from the show pretty impressed and looking forward to listening to more of their tracks.
