i've never heard anyone use "putting up shelves" as an innuendo and just to be sure i checked online and so far it only comes up with what lsit discussed on her blog.

i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be read the same as mycroft's "we meet up every Friday for fish and chips" regarding john earlier in the episode - obviously a sarcastic remark. i think it's interesting that this slight parallel between the brothers exists, and sherlock does get the fish and chips after all and john isn't there... no idea what i'm trying to say but there's something in the food here.
